Wanting to update kitchen. It's dark and especially dislike black laminate worktop. Doors are solid oak. Thinking of painting, new worktop and integrated f/f and washing machine. Ideas please re colour paint etc thanks in advance.

    Are you leaving the tiles?

Anyway, assuming you are, I'd go with a pale teal/ blue for the cabinets or maybe a pale sage green (which would tie in with the tiles) and a wooden worktop. If you don't want a wooden worktop, I'd choose white or pale grey.

Or you could do something even bolder and go with a soft pastel yellow, but if you're doing that, I'd re-do the splashback with something like small, white gloss subway tiles if at all possible which will bounce light around more.

Light cream would be lovely and we see a lots of our clients going lighter with their kitchens. You could change our the hardware. As regarding counters, a solid Silestone or Quartz is lovely and will last the test of time.

My kitchen was very similar to yours Theresa very dark - needed to leave lights all the time! I got the cabinets professionally painted in an off white by Farrow and ball and the walls are in Bone by farrow and ball which is a kind of grey - sage color. looks and feels way warmer and brighter! Think this could work really well with your wall tiles as they appear to have a green tone in them. Definitely integrate appliance - so glad I got mine painted it feels like a whole new kitchen without the big investment! Best of luck with yours!

i recently changed an oak kitchen like this one to a high gloss handleless door it brightened up the kitchen and gave it a great modern feel. This is the best pic i have of it i know its a bit cluttered but you can get the idea
