URRUTIA DESIGN is a boutique residential design studio located in Sausalito, California. We offer complete design services for Interiors & Exteriors. Our offices also includes Planning, Architecture (Interior Architecture), Project Submittals for Planning Approval & Building Permits, Landscape Design, Project Management and Furniture & Accessory Fabrication. URRUTIA DESIGN has been working in the design and development business for 25 years, focusing mainly on major residential renovations in Northern California. As a company we are passionate about our work and our commitment to our clients, always trying to maintain a proper balance between a client's design vision, our own creative vision and the overall investment and value of the property. “It’s an intimate process, this home renovating business. Jason is a personable designer with many ideas. We were looking at doing an extension of our cottage to give us more living space. He brought another team member from his office, and a builder with him. All 3 gave us different perspectives; it was a productive meeting which helped us decide on what we wanted to do with our home. As a General contractor, I worked with Jason (Urrutia design) on a project in San Rafael. The information given to us to build was on time and very detailed. Excellent communication and follow-up. The design was great; he was very picky with the finished products, and the result was stunning! Highly recommended, and I enjoyed working with them.

One of the best decisions we made was to hired Jason Urrutia of Urrutia Design ( www.urrutiadesign.com) for our kitchen renovation. This was our first major home renovation and you can imagine all our questions and concerns but Jason was personable, professional and patience throughout the entire project. He is an experienced talented designer who listens and whose top priority is the client's happiness with the finished results. His knowledge, strong versatile design skills and attention to details elevated our ideas and choices to a level that only a designer's eye can create in a home. Today we have a timeless, beautiful kitchen that we love and there is nothing, absolutely nothing. we would change. It was wonderful to have a collaborative working relationship and we plan to hire Jason Urrutia in the future for both our exterior and interior projects.

Long overdue review. Jason was amazing and patient throughout the difficult San Francisco permitting process in the middle of Covid. Eventually we got our permit, fought through the supply chain issues and finally got our kitchen and laundry room addition. Construction is finally done, the design looks great! Still waiting to get our final sign-off from the city, but there's light at end of tunnel. Glad to see the vision materialize.

As a general contractor, it can be challenging bringing a designer’s vision into reality; the opposite is true for Urrutia Design. Working with Urrutia Design has always been a pleasure and every job we have worked on together has turned out great. They have well thought-out designs that are creative, realistic and unique and I can tell they keep the builder in mind when they are creating ideas. They are organized, thorough with planning, responsive and well versed with the products being used. I have several projects coming up with Urrutia and I am excited to get started.

Jason Urrutia is simply amazing to work with. I can't say enough about his expertise and ability to understand the preference and goals of his clients and turn them into reality. We are undertaking a fairly substantial remodel and have been working with Urrutia Design for a number of months. We live in a traditional home that needs updating but we don't want to lose the original tone of the house. With Jason's guidance we are going to end up with an amazing space that respects the original architecture. We know what we like, but could never do what we are doing without the guidance and expertise of Jason. If you are looking for a design firm that really truly knows their space, look no further than Urrutia Design.

Jason and Martha were recommended to us by friends who had used them to design their whole house remodel. We had done some work with a number of other architects in a previous house and found Jason and Martha a freshing change from them. From the first discussion they did a great job listening to what we wanted and helped us narrow our scope to fit to our budget. In addition they challenged a number of our preconceived wants from the project in a way that was never anything less than pleasant and educational (from our side). All of the decisions we have come to thus far feel fully informed and well debated. We have finished the initial design phase, are in the midst of strucutral, soils and mechanical engineering work and hope to head into our initial bidding process after the holiday. Once we are further along we will add to our review.

Hiring Jason and Martha was the best decision that I made in the scope of our entire renovation, and I have Houzz to thank for it. I searched the professional listings for local interior designers and discovered that Urrutia Design was in our area and responsible for three of the inspiration photos that I'd saved to an ideabook I'd made for my project. Seriously, it felt like fate. Jason and Martha have impeccable taste and incredible ability to envision how a space should be reconfigured and redesigned. They were friendly and easy to work with, even when there were times when the budget did not allow for us to fully follow through with their design as they - and we - would have liked. They were flexible in coming up with creative solutions and helping us prioritize, and I especially appreciated the times that they sat us down, explained the motivations behind their design choices, and were straight about the negative ramifications when we were about to deviate from their designed specs. Their honest guidance and advice helped us reach a better result than I could have imagined, and I know for sure that I will be contacting Urrutia Design first and foremost for any projects in the future.

We adored working with Jason of Urrutia Design. We decided to renovate our entire house, top to bottom. It was a huge project (we moved out during construction). Jason made the entire process as painless as possible, helping us with every aspect and tiniest detail. His sense of style is top notch, we loved all of his choices, but he was also very open to our input and attentive to our personal needs, making it so easy (and actually fun!) to work together. He always responded quickly to any questions we have and has never left us hanging. Always there to help. There is no way we could have tackled a project of this size alone and we feel insanely lucky to have found Urrutia Design to help us create our dream home. Wonderful experience!
