When we decided to add a second floor to a ranch home in Logan Square, we didn’t know where to start and had no experience with renovations. We asked our friends and colleagues for recommendations on architects, but no one was willing to recommend the ones they used in the past. So, we searched Houzz and found Perimeter Architects. While other architects had more reviews, Perimeter was the most professional and responsive of all the architects we contacted (not to mention we loved their previous projects). From beginning to end, the overall experience was positive and relatively smooth. John and team were well prepared for every meeting, with plans, drawings, discussion points, samples, pictures, and models. They were truly consultative; they both integrated what we wanted while still pushing us on design and functionality. They were also hands on and showed that they cared about our project. For example, their team came on site with the contractors just to make sure the dining room light fixture was hung appropriately. We hired their recommended contractor, Bigane Construction, which resulted in a well executed project end to end. There were very minor hiccups in the project and we managed to track closely with budget and timeline. The end-product is a customized, sleek, functional, well-designed, and unique home. We love it. We would happily recommend Perimeter to others and would use them again.

We used Perimeter to help put a design idea on paper. The space was small, but was a key entry and exit point and required reconfiguring to work properly. Despite the projects size (small), John gave us a lot of attention and ultimately helped us tremendously with the final design. Perimeter Architects recently renovated a full 12,000+ sf commercial building for me. It was a project with very specific needs in that the roof has a working urban farm. I felt they listened to our needs and had practical suggestions on how to get us there. The team at Perimeter Architects listened to how we work and where we work and then transformed our studio from an open, raw space into a functional, well-designed, and fun space. They even included a fantastic "lounge" for our studio dog, Whisky! Our personalities are reflected in not only the way our studio functions, but also the way our studio looks. Form and function blend seamlessly into our work life at Ink Factory with the incorporation of mini stadium seating, a private "fishbowl" for deeper conversations, and desks that are designed for standing, sitting, AND act as a walking platform so that we can use the whiteboards attached to the walls.
