I always love a freestanding bath - no matter the space!

I have one in the family bathroom & the space is a bit tight but would like one in the ensuite to really enjoy it!

The cleaning around it would drive me insane! I vote no.

Who would ever want to make cleaning more 'challenging'? I suspect only people who don't have to do it. Dumbest idea ever.

There are freestanding back to wall baths that are perfect for small spaces.

Our mutual understanding of "small space" may not be shared based on the picture given.

I fit a 1500 bath (Harper Bath from Fontaine Industries) in my tiny bathroom and was left with a bigger and deeper bath than the original built in shallow one. Another option is to use a free standing bath as your shower base too?

And Susan I clean my own house and have no issues with both vacuum and mopping around the bath base? But I guess its personal preference.

I think it is harder to clean a built in, all those joining places and maybe grout

I have one in my own home and it has never been a problem.

@Wayne Carter Homes - they look great. Although I prefer a built-in bath, I could live with your design. However, my bath is 1800mm and it fits snuggly into bathroom. I don't see the point in having a large bathroom.

Ours works in our master ensuite. I think it makes the room looks more spacious with the space around the bath as opposed to an inset bath in a tiled hob. Not difficult to clean around at all, I say go for it, I always love a free standing bath!

I love the look of free standing baths, but the practical side leads to a built in.

out 10 for a free standing bath:

cleaning: 5 depends on who is cleaning, but for me (the 1 who cleans,) who likes cleaning any way

    placing of wine glass: 0

space used up: 2 They take up a lot space where, I think storage and placement of bubblebath, wine etc could be placed

getting in and out: 2 - 7 (depending on age and mobility) : this was the deciding point for us, elderly parents, and 4 kids under 4. ( 2x twins!!)

    Hi guys

    We love both!

A common misconception we've found with freestanding baths and spas is that they're simply be too heavy to move around for cleaning purposes.

To make cleaning manageable, our 100% Australian made baths and spas are manufactured using Gelcoat composite construction which is extremely strong yet not overly heavy (5mm thickness to ensure structural rigidity and increased thermal properties).

So one of our baths is typically around the 40-50kg mark which allows most people to easily slide the bath out from the wall for easy cleaning access.

Freestanding stone baths are a different story altogether!

    Regards,

    Brad
