Hi, what you might try doing is start a new idea book just for your bedroom. You can search photos here on Houzz by searching for, for example, "black and grey bedroom" or "black and silver walls".
When you see what you like save it the idea book. That way, we can look at your idea book and help you in a more specific way. It seems like you want to keep your black and silver bedspread and that is directing what you must do to make that work for you.

I looked at your book. The one with the grey/grass cloth look, looks good. Which way are you leaning? :)

Ok, I looked at you new idea book. Clearly you love black and grey with some silver or white. Ok, now you can pick a nice grey paint for your walls. I would not go too dark though. If you lie, the chandelier wall stickers , then get a few to,start with. Get those black side tables and the lamps you liked.
Once you have all that down and in, the post some new pictures so we can help you get the room finished.
I have a black and off white theme in my guest room, but the walls are painted a "green apple" color. I have made my own curtains, and pillow shams and hope to make a bed skirt over the winter. I have been putting it off for a few years to get it finished though. Don't wait as long as me. Also, don't wait on to see the what wins your poll, that could go back and forth for months!

i voted yes, but for more of an off-black...rather than jet black. Though I like some of what Sheri posted....

I have a solid black wall and it looks very good! White on its own can look surprisingly drab without accents. You can get a fantastic black finish with black chalkboard paint, it won't look chalked if you don't actually use chalk on it, just a very smooth and very black matt finish.

i have been putting this off for many years to and finally thought i had better finalize my ideas and get a move on.
yes i will post pix when i am finished.....can't guarantee that it will be in the next 6 months tho... unfortunately - it takes a while for things that i order online to get into these remote parts of NSW.

    gudo....
so i should go for a grey/silver paint colour?
    and a bedside and dresser?
    and a lamp?
what should i put on the accent wall after it is painted? a picture?
should i get a floor rug?
    ;D thanx
  • zazfuzzroc
    il y a 9 ans
I do like grey/silver, plus easier to change/add softer color. :) yes on dresser and side table. Of course you need a lamp. :) I would put some nice art or a decorative mirror... you have carpet? I would check out rugs you like. That may help with a paint choice. :)

OK so i am going with the grey/silver
ok so the glassy dresser and bed side table? i think so....! dresser will go in niche.
yes....a lamp for on top of the dresser and one for the bed side, they will be the same.
i have got a mirror. will hang that up.
i have got cream carpet at the moment. and that isnt about to change to soon. so will look out for sum grey/black floor rugs.

i was thinking maybe a black wood wainscotting along the wall instead of the whole wall black, and maybe your trim, which would be optional, to help with some contrast seeing that your headboard is also black , its just an idea I thought of. that is all.

I like the black wall. Hate the black drapes and bedspread . Paint the walls and trim a French Grey. Purchase a black and white area rug to pull the black to the floor. Black chest and etc would look nice. Bedding white. Add turquoise with the black as an accent color.

Are you keeping the carpet? If so, I don't think it works with the bedspread or striped drapes. I'd replace either the carpet with a gray or the bedspread in either plain black or some pattern that links it to the floor color. I also think you're getting too much black going for such a small room. Perhaps just painting the room a neutral that blends in with the carpet better, painting the trim all black and putting in some black shelving, night tables, clear lamp with black lampshade and sheer curtains over black shades would give you the drama you're looking for without overwhelming the room.
