what to put over a 36” freestanding oven/stove

We are redoing our kitchen and adding a 36” freestanding gas range. Space is a little limited, so we would still like to hang our microwave over the range. i can only find 30” over range microwaves. 1) will it look awful to hang the microwave over a 36” range. 2) are those kits that make a 30” microwave take up 36” the best solution?

thanks!

36" gas range really needs a real hood and not just aestically. Can you find another place for the MW?

We would strongly advise against using a microwave/fan combo for a 36" gas stove. Microwave fans are not powerful enough for a gas stove, and could also cause more issues if the microwave is too close to the range (less than 24" above). It would be to your benefit to use a 36" hood fan over your 36" gas stove. It all depends on how much cooking you will be doing, and how heavy/greasy the cooking is. Pyramid-style range hoods tend to work best for gas stoves because it makes it easier to guide any steam/smoke. You also want to make sure that the range hood you are purchasing does not have any plastic parts inside or on the blower/motor because those can melt over time from the heat.
