kitchen floor advice please!
The boards down now are running in opposite directions and are not worth saving.
I like the idea of stone flooring but worry about it being cold and have also thought about parquet as it might not look as odd? What direction would you position wood flooring? Any ideas of suggestions would be hugely appreciated!! X

Commentaires (2)I see your point, It does look ugly :) Since its a rental apartment, do you have the authorization to remove it ? Because unfortunately, you can't put down vinyle over lino, it will not work (and its not because of the uneven floor). You can remove the lino and put another one, less ugly. It can be nice actually :) http://designmag.fr/design-dinterieur/lino-sol.html You are speaking about sticker, its quite cheap, why not trying and see if it fits with an uneven floor ? Although Im not sure that it will look pretty. Last solution, you can paint the lino, it will not last forever but it could be nice. Ask for expert advice to by the appropriate painting pots.... I'm not trying to criticize, the space seems new, with quality materials and well-lit, but have you also noticed the other big white walls? and ceiling? Why just the wall with the mirror? You've got a majority of white, a good dose of black, some chrome / stainless steel details and an uninterrupted shiny pale wood floor. It's relatively astonishing that you have a white door and only one white window, but the other window is black? Everything is relativement anonymous, nice, but nothing too ground-breaking. Is this a rental or your own home? Are you sure that just some art on that one wall will make it cozy and beautiful? Have you thought about any window treatments? Store venetien? Rideaux? Store bateaux? Any type of rug under the dining table? A rug called Bolon, made of woven vinyl fibers, easily cleaned ant anti-allergy. Is the mirror not on the axis of the table on purpose? And why a dark wood? It adds to the "window types", a black one, a white one and the wooden mirror one... Some more information would be helpful. good luck, Lynn... Voir plus

We agree that parquet flooring is a nice idea to help create flow throughout the space. It's also very much on trend, and timelessly stylish too! We'd recommend laying the pattern direction along the length of the hallway and then continuing this direction into the other rooms. The hallway is, after all, where first impressions are made so we'd suggest getting it just how you like it in this room first of all. The second and third mages from Man About the House show the flow well.
Alternatively, you could go for parquet in your hallway and planks in your kitchen, in the same colour of wood - the colour flows but this mixes up the pattern a little and gives you the chance to choose your preferred direction in each room.
