Nelson Residence
I found this vintage piece online called Danish Modern Teak Queen Headboard, Built-in Nightstands by Niels Jonsson on this website: https://epochfurnishings.com/product/danish-modern-teak-queen-headboard-built-in-nightstands-by-niels-jonsson/ I also found that editing Houzz comments on an iPad SUCKS - and even with the app installed, it’s terrible :-) I think also from Google searches the designer’s name is Nils Jonsson - and I also think I can’t enter a ‘return’ to space out my comments
Another tub in a shower stall - this might be similar to our size?
Another tub inside a shower stall - notice the bath mat - (and I’m guessing the wooden table/magazine is for the photo only)
Here’s a tub that sticks out of the shower stall - not sure I like this...
The table is a bit goofy - but this is another tub in a shower stall
This is kind of funky. I like the clean lines. (The floor is a little boring though) - this is really close in size and layout to ours. only one sink though. nice addition of skylight over the shower
This shower looks bigger-- is this bigger than what would fit? (Note from Peter - the comments say the ‘wet room’ is 6’ x 6’ with a 3x6 tub and 3x6 shower) - Yes, this is what I was drawing. 6x6 for both shower and tub. the picture is using a massive wide angle lens
Tub inside shower stall - I like the high ‘rain shower’ heads - also note the sloped ceiling - it’s lower over the tub (which might be our situation?)
The more I'm looking at these, the more I'm seeing how it could be cool. I like that the shower will feel bigger, because of the open space over the tub
Wood slat shower floor - comments on picture talk about how it didn’t work out for some people
I'm just trying to find every arrangement like this (!)-- it seems kind of tight, but this is pretty much what it would be, right?
Example of wooden slat floored shower in front of tub
Is this sort of the scale of your drawn plan?
Is this the kind of wooden decking you were talking about for the shower?
It occurs to me that if we gain enough clothes storage in the closet, and the room is a bit bigger with more wall space, we actually could have a big window in the bedroom (i.e. we won't have the same crazy situation we have now of dressers lining every available wall space)
If our master bedroom could have space like this (and room for a king bed) I would be so thrilled! I don't have any fantasies about couches or sitting areas in our bedroom but a larger bed and more open space around it would be amazing... I'm so curious to see how the space divides up...
This room has elements to please both Peter AND me (kind of kidding... I do love purple though)
I think our neighbors across the street --who did the same addition-- out high, small windows like this over their bed (I was only in it once, but I vaguely remember that their master bedroom overlooks the street). In our current bedroom, the windows are a huge pain, trying to arrange furniture between them
Another tub/shower combo that looks to be space-efficienct, yet not too small?
I like this tub surround that becomes the lower wall of the shower stall - interesting way to save space, but keep it looking ‘open’ I also like the idea of an “inset” tub built into a square-ish base to to give ledges for bottles of shampoo/etc
Interesting built-in headboard/night stands - I like that each side of the bed has bookshelves that are somewhat hidden - and the high window over the bed.
I like the idea of the rod (I would put it higher than in this picture, though) over a sewing work space-- any hung-up laundry can go there (above my machine) most of the time, when I'm not actually sewing.
ooh! This is also very nice!
This looks almost like a desk next to the laundry machines, but I'm imagining it as a sewing table (I'm liking the idea of combining laundry with sewing/crafting space. Then the current spare bedroom can convert to an office.) The natural light would be helpful, I also like that it doesn't have cabinets over head... another photo I posted actually has the cabinets over the work table, not as nice.
I'm looking at this tub and liking that it looks extra LONG. I would love that. I also think I prefer it being built in like this (with ledge around) rather than the stand-alone-tub idea.
Too many open shelves like this for folded up clothes is NOT good for me. (I would make a jumbled mess of them.) I would much rather have built in drawers. The current closet is tiny, but I really only need a few more drawers, another couple feet of closet rod, and space for maybe twenty pairs of shoes.
OOH! Is this a kind of drying closet??? We had a make-shift version of this in England (open shelves butted up against a water heater) and it was FABULOUS!
This is a more relevant picture of built-ins for a walk-in closet
I like the idea of built-ins in the walk-in closet, and keeping the main bedroom clear of big furniture (except for bed and nightstands on either side). And neither of us have this many shoes!
I think Elizabeth is more of a Pong player...
This is basically the tub we had in every B&B when we lived in England - do not do this! ;-)
Skylights in the bathroom instead of windows that face the street? Also what about leopard print rugs... can we use real leopard, or should they be faux? Also, I do not like the design of the shower stall here - just the idea of angled skylights in the ceiling of the bathroom
A friend of mine has a room like this, about the side of an oversized walk-in closet with a big counter across one wall. I would LOVE that.
OOH!! I like this idea a lot!! If we could combine laundry/crafting space, that would be super efficient (I would want a bit more table space/countertop than is pictured here)
Idea - is the ceiling of the bedroom sloped like the roof and tall? Or is it flat and 8ft high? The existing upstairs floor has relatively low ceilings (less than 8 ft) so it might be nice to have a higher ceiling to make it look more “grand”?
If we possibly can fit it, I would really like both a shower stall and a tub. We already have a tub in the other bathroom, so I guess if there are space constraints the priority should be a shower stall
I can't tell from this if the shower is enormous, but the proportions of this seem reasonable, i.e. we don't need a ton of open space between any of the elements (toilet/shower/tub/sink)
Tiki Bar inspiration! (Hah hah... just trying to figure out Houzz)
The backsplash tile on this is awkward, stopping at the edge of the counter - Agreed!
