An Asian inspired landscape and new pool decking
The homeowners expressed interest in upgrading the landscape surrounding their existing in-ground swimming pool. On the initial site visit, we were greeted by an outdated concrete pool deck, plastic pool coping and a few lonely mature shrubs and trees. The north end of the backyard was enclosed by the garage wall and a few half-hearted attempts at growing vines to mask its massiveness. The homeowners’ goal was to refresh the existing landscape while working within the constraints of the existing pool and its narrow perimeter spaces.
The homeowners admire Asian garden aesthetics, so ornamentation and plant species were selected that emphasized simplicity in their distinct forms. The narrow planting spaces around the pool were maximized through layers of texture, where pebbles and accent rocks complement and contrast with unique plant forms. The pool now feels integrated with this lush landscape of ornamental grasses and specimen evergreens.
