12/12 Architects & PlannersThis 1990s brick home had decent square footage and a massive front yard, but no way to enjoy it. Each room needed an update, so the entire house was renovated and remodeled, and an addition was put on over the existing garage to create a symmetrical front. The old brown brick was painted a distressed white.
The 500sf 2nd floor addition includes 2 new bedrooms for their teen children, and the 12'x30' front porch lanai with standing seam metal roof is a nod to the homeowners' love for the Islands. Each room is beautifully appointed with large windows, wood floors, white walls, white bead board ceilings, glass doors and knobs, and interior wood details reminiscent of Hawaiian plantation architecture.
The kitchen was remodeled to increase width and flow, and a new laundry / mudroom was added in the back of the existing garage. The master bath was completely remodeled. Every room is filled with books, and shelves, many made by the homeowner.

LMOH HomeInitially built as a new garage for a car enthusiast, this project evolved into a car collection showroom, guesthouse and entertaining space. We were challenged with carrying many of the traditional elements from the main house into our design while making this space more contemporary. The result feels eclectic, collected, and distinct. Inspired by the interiors of our client’s cars, we created a custom sectional featuring a pearlized cobalt leather. For interest, we had martini chairs upholstered in Pierre Frey fabric and used Phillip Jeffries wallcoverings throughout. To turn the office into a hospitable room for guests, we installed a custom murphy bed with cabinetry storage on either side and treated it with molding for a built-in look.

The tall ceilings and large windows are the focal point of the space and so we kept it light and bright, while mixing textures and finishes to create interest. The client's own eclectic art and object collections pair perfectly with the pops of color in the furniture and accessories. The hand glazed kitchen backsplash tile is the perfect contrast to the white, wood and stainless steel and nods to the changing colors of the lake view across.

We stayed true to the period of this 1930s Colonial with appropriate period wallpapers and such, but brought it up to date with exciting colors, and a good dose of current furnishings. I decided to go a bit more modern in this home office. Our client's favorite color is coral, which we featured prominently here.
