The island features a beautiful marble-effect quartz worktop, while the other worktops, as well as the splashback and sink, are made of durable porcelain material. Upon entering, the Crittal-style doors reveal the beautiful interior of the kitchen, complete with a bespoke island that boasts a curved bench seat that can comfortably seat four people. The island also features seating for three, a Quooker tap, AGA oven, and a rounded oak table top, making it the perfect space for entertaining guests. The mirror splashback adds a touch of elegance and luxury, while the traditional high ceilings and bi-fold doors allow plenty of natural light to flood the room.
The island is not just a functional space, but a stunning piece of design as well. The curved cupboards and round oak butchers block are beautifully complemented by the quartz worktops and worktop break-front. The traditional pilasters, nickel handles, and cup pulls add to the timeless feel of the space, while the bespoke serving tray in oak, integrated into the island, is a delightful touch.

Extensions are modern using modern materials whilst being respectful to the original house and surrounding fabric.
Views to the treetops beyond draw occupants from the entrance, through the house and down to the double height kitchen at garden level.
From the playroom window seat on the upper level, children (and adults) can climb onto a play-net suspended over the dining table.
The mezzanine library structure hangs from the roof apex with steel structure exposed, a place to relax or work with garden views and light. More on this - the built-in library joinery becomes part of the architecture as a storage wall and transforms into a gorgeous place to work looking out to the trees. There is also a sofa under large skylights to chill and read.
The kitchen and dining space has a Z-shaped double height space running through it with a full height pantry storage wall, large window seat and exposed brickwork running from inside to outside. The windows have slim frames and also stack fully for a fully indoor outdoor feel.
A holistic retrofit of the house provides a full thermal upgrade and passive stack ventilation throughout. The floor area of the house was doubled from 115m2 to 230m2 as part of the full house refurbishment and extension project.
A huge master bathroom is achieved with a freestanding bath, double sink, double shower and fantastic views without being overlooked.
The master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe room with its own window.
The children's bathroom is fun with under the sea wallpaper as well as a separate shower and eaves bath tub under the skylight making great use of the eaves space.
The loft extension makes maximum use of the eaves to create two double bedrooms, an additional single eaves guest room / study and the eaves family bathroom.

We set to work designing the kitchen and quickly realised that by redesigning the use of the space, storage could be increased along with a more spacious area around their dining table, without extending the room!

Higham FurnitureThis beautiful penthouse kitchen in Battersea features a large L-shaped island that also incorporates a large structural pillar. The main kitchen sink is behind the pillar which creates some separation between the washing up area and the dining area. We paneled the pillar with Shaker-style panels that match the kitchen which works as a great place for the TV to be hung. The client does a lot of entertaining, so they have a separate bar area to the left of the kitchen. This kitchen features a large stainless steel Mercury cooker, white quartz worktops, and a mirrored splashback. The tall cabinets are painted in Lamp Black by Little Greene and the other cabinets in the classic French Grey, also by Little Greene.

Higham FurnitureThis bespoke dresser was designed based on our client's spec. They wanted lots of storage space, both for breakfast items and for crockery and glassware. This dresser was installed in front of a window, so we cleverly designed for the glazed cupboards to have a glass back panel to let the light in. This is one of our favourite features in this penthouse kitchen.
