Hillcrest ConstructionHillcrest Construction designed and executed a complete facelift for these West Chester clients’ master bathroom. The sink/toilet/shower layout stayed relatively unchanged due to the limitations of the small space, but major changes were slated for the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal.
The bathroom was gutted completely, the wiring was updated, and minor plumbing alterations were completed for code compliance.
Bathroom waterproofing was installed utilizing the state-of-the-industry Schluter substrate products, and the feature wall of the shower is tiled with a striking blue 12x12 tile set in a stacked pattern, which is a departure of color and layout from the staggered gray-tome wall tile and floor tile.
The original bathroom lacked storage, and what little storage it had lacked practicality.
The original 1’ wide by 4’ deep “reach-in closet” was abandoned and replaced with a custom cabinetry unit that featured six 30” drawers to hold a world of personal bathroom items which could pulled out for easy access. The upper cubbie was shallower at 13” and was sized right to hold a few spare towels without the towels being lost to an unreachable area. The custom furniture-style vanity, also built and finished at the Hillcrest custom shop facilitated a clutter-free countertop with its two deep drawers, one with a u-shaped cut out for the sink plumbing. Considering the relatively small size of the bathroom, and the vanity’s proximity to the toilet, the drawer design allows for greater access to the storage area as compared to a vanity door design that would only be accessed from the front. The custom niche in the shower serves and a consolidated home for soap, shampoo bottles, and all other shower accessories.
Moen fixtures at the sink and in the shower and a Toto toilet complete the contemporary feel. The controls at the shower allow the user to easily switch between the fixed rain head, the hand shower, or both. And for a finishing touch, the client chose between a number for shower grate color and design options to complete their tailor-made sanctuary.
Boyce Design + BuildThis bathroom features a striking, sage colored, glass-tiled, shower and brushed gold accents. A mid-century freestanding vanity, hexagon patterned porcelain tile flooring and white and gold drop style pendants add a layer of vintage charm to the space.
Wow Great PlaceThe shower was designed to accommodate a curbless install, so the floor was sloped down towards the linear drain. The glass was ordered in "extra clear" so as not to cast the typical blue-green hue that most shower glass has. We also ordered the anti-smudge glass, so squeegeeing is not as critical after every shower.

Flooring in waterproof LVP, continued from bedroom into bathroom and closet. Brushed gold faucets and shower fixtures. Authentic, hand-pierced Moroccan globe light over tub for beautiful shadows for relaxing and romantic soaks in the tub. Vanity pendant lights with handmade glass, hand-finished gold and silver tones layers organic design over geometric tile backdrop. Open, glass panel all-tile shower with 48x48" window (glass frosted after photos were taken). Shower pan tile pattern matches 3D tile pattern. Arched medicine cabinet from West Elm. Separate toilet room with sound dampening built-in wall treatment for enhanced privacy. Frosted glass doors throughout. Vent fan with integrated heat option. Tall storage cabinet for additional space to store body care products and other bathroom essentials. Original bathroom plumbed for two sinks, but current homeowner has only one user for this bathroom, so we capped one side, which can easily be reopened in future if homeowner wants to return to a double-sink setup.

large format porcelain tile (72x30) was used both for the walls and for the floor.
A 3D tile was used for the center wall for accent / focal point.
Wall mounted toilet were used to save space.

Bailiwick Interior DesignUpgrading the bathroom in this client's circa 1950s home required thoughtful consideration of the small space available. Elements of the home that had once been considered "modern" were now outdated and no longer functional (like the over-sized medicine cabinets and small closets). But the homeowner's eclectic style allowed us to still incorporate some classic mid-century elements that paid homage to the home's age, while enhancing the functionality of the space. Using a floating vanity and a corner shower allowed us to fit everything into the small footprint AND give her a walk-in closet next door - something she would never have dreamed of before!

Pinpoint Kitchen & BathThe shower fixtures here were customized with a 3 way diverter to allow the client to use either the tub spout, handheld, or rain head or a combo of the rain head and handheld! The built in shampoo niche with carrara marble accents serves as storage for soap and shampoo.
BiLDENThe master bathroom takes full advantage of the privacy afforded by the house siting and location in the canyon. The use of unlacquered brass fixtures and accents along with the furniture-like white oak cabinetry provide warmth and contrast to the concrete-like basalt tiles and steel windows.
Sheila Rich Interiors, LLCAn empty wall next to the old vanity provided much needed space to enlarge the shower and create this timeless and elegant cherry corner vanity with two vessel sinks. An upper cabinet provides additional storage space. Cherry crown molding stained to match the cabinets creates visual continuity around the room; the tiled counter top has a matching cherry bullnose edge. River rock listello tile in bronzes and browns are bordered by bronze pencil tile, with bronze motif corners in the mirror frame. The linen closet and entry doors' frosted glass afford privacy while softening the room.
