Notre solution
Nous supprimons les murs du couloir qui desservaient séjour puis cuisine et salle de bain. A la place, nous créons un bel espace ouvert avec cuisine contemporaine. L’ancienne cuisine est aménagée en dressing et une salle de bains est créée, attenante à la chambre parentale.
Le style
Le charme de l’ancien est conservé avec le parquet, les boiseries, cheminée et moulures. Des carreaux ciments délimitent l’espace repas et les boiseries sont mises en avant avec un bleu profond que l’on retrouve sur les murs. La décoration est chaleureuse et de type scandinave.

Terri Symington, ASIDOn the original construction drawings, the fireplace was a standard floor level fireplace. I wanted the fireplace to be seen from all angles of the great room, so I designed it on the wall with a custom fabricated surround. The fire logs were also custom fabricated in the style of drift wood in heights to fit the dimensions of the fireplace in a vertical format.
I designed the coffee table/ottoman with grandchildren in mind with the soft upholstered edges. A custom framed marble slab servers as the hard surface for the table.
The antique french chair I bought for the area were given newly fabricated cushions and skirts with "ballet slipper" ties.

Last Detail Interior DesignThe floors were redone in a modern soft gray/brown so that the color scheme of blues/grays/whites could work. Existing upholstered pieces were reupholstered in white with navy piping. We blended some of the owners antiques with modern pieces such as the acrylic Moroccan style table that serves it's purpose without taking up too much visual space.

Cornerstone ArchitectsConceived as a remodel and addition, the final design iteration for this home is uniquely multifaceted. Structural considerations required a more extensive tear down, however the clients wanted the entire remodel design kept intact, essentially recreating much of the existing home. The overall floor plan design centers on maximizing the views, while extensive glazing is carefully placed to frame and enhance them. The residence opens up to the outdoor living and views from multiple spaces and visually connects interior spaces in the inner court. The client, who also specializes in residential interiors, had a vision of ‘transitional’ style for the home, marrying clean and contemporary elements with touches of antique charm. Energy efficient materials along with reclaimed architectural wood details were seamlessly integrated, adding sustainable design elements to this transitional design. The architect and client collaboration strived to achieve modern, clean spaces playfully interjecting rustic elements throughout the home.
