Affatato Asphalt Paving Inc.

From the salesman to the staff in the office to the crews who showed up to do my work, I was pleasantly surprised. I needed a large project done including my driveway, stoop, walkway, and patio around my pool. I was happy to find a company who was able to do all of this without any subcontractors. They were professional and I am beyond happy with the final outcome. I would recommend them to anyone who needs this type of work done.

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! They showed up on a breezy, 42 degree December 2014 day (Too cold to pave) and took their time about getting the roller on the pavement. The asphalt did not get compacted correctly because it was too cold by the time they rolled it. A couple of days later large amounts of water began seeping up through the asphalt on the sloped portion of my driveway.This continued all winter. The limestone from the base and the seepage is evident on the top of the driveway. Over the course of the winter the entire driveway began to disintegrate due to water freezing and thawing INSIDE the pavement. In the spring as the asphalt warmed my cars have been sinking up to 1/2 inch into the pavement where we park and every time we turn the cars around on the driveway the asphalt surface rips up. It is so soft that my kids roller blades leave indentations. A 75lb. child on roller-blades should not leave indentations on a proper surface. Additionally, the asphalt mixture they used had some porous rocks in it and over the winter these rocks absorbed water and shattered leaving the entire surface severely pock-marked. Affatato sent their rep out to look at it (I believe his name was Jeff). He said that there was something wrong in the mix and there shouldn't be water coming up from below. He told that they would check with the asphalt company they got the mix from. In his opinion there was a problem with the mix. He was sure they would be tearing it up and repaving. He said he would get back to me in 2 weeks. That was 1 1/2 months ago. The company president recently met with my contractor and inspected the driveway while I was not home. I have been told by my contractor that Affatato claims there is nothing wrong with the driveway and will not repair anything. I have many pictures to prove all this. I will give Affatato the opportunity to correct the problem quickly. If Affatato Paving will not re-pave the driveway I will pursue the matter with the department of consumer affairs and then take legal action. It was a mistake to pave on such a cold day and the asphalt was left to sit for long periods of time before the heavy roller was used to compact it. Companies should stand behind their work and make it right when they make mistakes. I will update when I hear from Affatato. If I don't hear from them quickly I will start legal action. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!
