Having an architect father I am fairly familiar with the intricacies of the craft. This is probably the main reason I chose Keith to design our home over the other well established studios. Keith exhibits 2 traits that I think are a key to a successful design: listening to the client’s needs and vision, and secondly, having enough field and industry experience to think outside the box and deliver a unique design that actually meets those needs and that vision (as opposed to transferring ‘signature’ design from existing projects). My project was very challenging due to GC and workmanship issues onsite, however Keith was there to advise us on and beyond to accomplish the completion. Building a true modern home is a journey. You want to make sure you embark on it with the right people. I whole heartedly recommend Keith and his crew for your dream modern home design.

My partner, Aiden and I, have been fortunate to land a lot in the Leigh St Development Project in the San Antonio Historical District known as Lavaca. We are passionate about exploring new things from outdoors to new trendy restaurants and bars, entertaining and art. We had been in search of a creative architect that could capture these aspects we appreciate and share with loved ones in an affordable home design. We have just completed our initial design phase and working on the finer details for permitting. We have been very pleased with the level of professionalism from the team and we are excited to be partners in this endeavour together. We look forward to sharing our feedback and hopefully some stunning photos in the coming months. I think this team has a bright future in the growing San Antonio market.

My wife and I did an extensive search for an architect who could help us build our contemporary home. We visualized a home that would flow smoothly from inside to outside and would take advantage of our large wooded lot. After meeting 10 different architects, we decided that Keith was the architect with the best vision and personality to take on our project. He nailed it on our first visit with an amazing design. With a little tweaking, we have worked with Keith to design a home that will be spectacular. Working with Merge has been a great experience. I was introduced to Keith in the spring of 1999, at which time my wife and I were searching for an architect with a focus on modern architecture to aid our personal quest to build the home of our dreams. As an electrical engineer by degree and an MEP consultant by trade, I had worked with architects professionally and felt I had a good understanding of what was required architecturally to complete our project. I scheduled what was intended to be a brief thirty minute interview with Keith which turned out to be a two hour enlightenment session by Keith on the application of modern architecture in a residential setting. Keith displayed an uncanny level of understanding on the minimalist style of architecture we favored while maintaining the need to balance our desires with elements that would create a timeless structure. Interestingly, that one interview led to a lifelong friendship with Keith that has enriched the lives of me and my family, and has professionally taught me more about modern architecture than I would have ever imagined. Keith continues to push the boundaries of modern architecture and routinely sets new bars for those that practice his craft. He has unquestionably shaped the lives of those around him through his continued pursuit to express his vision of architecture in the modern world.

Keith Messick with Merge Architects has done a masterful job with our home design. He is the perfect combination of original ideas with extreme sensitivity to our personal input. He was able to go from brainstorming session to compete, original, construction documents in a very short period of time. Payed close attention to every material and finish in the entire project and made us feel comfortable with the entire process.
