My wife and I wanted to update our 20 year old Baltimore County home. We selected Bob because of his reputation and had some of the projects he had done in our area. It was easy to work with Bob on the plans as he had great ideas and my wife was able to discuss a number of different concepts before deciding on the final project. Bob was the general contractor and got the work done on time and on budget. When there was a problem with an item no longer available, Bob was able to create a work around that was a good alternative. He even came out out a year later to fix a weather related issue. We used Bob Kutner as the architect on a dining room/sunroom addition to our home. It was a small footprint (sunroom was to be built over an existing deck), but we wanted to maximize the space and ceiling height which made the design more complex. Bob worked with us closely and came up with a design plan that we loved. He was very responsive and knowledgeable. Bob was willing to work with our contractor and visited during construction--he even came out at no additional cost to do an "exploratory" look at the deck to determine if existing footers could be used, etc. Bob is both an architect and a builder and that's a real plus. If we had not already contracted with a builder, we would have used Bob for both. We can definitely recommend him.

Bob Kutner designed and built a portico on our 1941 brick home in historic Sudbrook Park in Maryland! His expertise with historic homes to maintain the integrity of the house and area was quite evident both during and completion of the project! Bob is a hands on architect and builder. He was on site daily and kept us constantly in the loop during construction! The quality of his work is the BEST! Mr. Kuntner created an amazing design for our waterfront home. He kept the waterfront theme throughout the design. We have a 2 story atrium at the entrance and open space leading from the kitchen through the living area to waterfront views. A second story was added, as well as a rooftop deck. Thank you Bob!

Bob transformed our master bath into a beautiful, award winning luxurious spa. Bob was hands on for the entire renovation from the design, to the building, and to the painting. Bob was very creative in his design for our bath and closets.

Using his outstanding architectural skills, construction knowledge, and design ideas, Bob totally transformed our small and outdated kitchen. We were unfamiliar with the realities of renovation, but Bob coached us at all stages and accompanied me to cabinet dealers, appliance suppliers and granite warehouses to find the best selections. Bob then brought in workers to strip the old uneven drywall down to brick and wiring and to remove multiple layers of old linoleum and part of the sub-floor damaged by a dishwasher leak. After his crew of efficient and skillful carpenters, plumbers and electricians worked for several weeks, our kitchen had smooth new walls, mahogany-stained solid wood cabinets and a deep farmhouse-style sink. Bob found a granite installer who measured and cut our granite selection perfectly to wrap around corners--resulting in a beautiful counter that ties together the rest of the kitchen’s elements. Bob also brought in a skillful wood floor man who artfully installed and stained a new oak floor that not only blends perfectly with the old oak floors of our hallway and dining room, but has multiple coats of finish to protect against spills. Bob advised us that a wider and open doorway to the hallway and working the bulkhead into the design would make the kitchen seem larger and more balanced--and he was absolutely right. Finally, in contrast with other contractors, Bob was supportive of my plan to have a lazy susan cabinet in a tight corner and to leave one wall open to enhance the kitchen's small space. I recommend Bob highly -- he is a true professional, and he produced a kitchen that has both high quality and excellent value. He was always available by phone, text or email, incredibly responsive and informed me immediately when problems arose--and promptly solved those problems. The bottom line is that Bob took a small inconvenient kitchen and transformed it into one that is both beautiful and utilitarian.

Bob is absolutely terrific. He really thinks things through and pays attention to every detail. He's wonderful to work with. We've used his expertise for two major projects: outdoor living space and a master bath redo. We are so pleased with his creativity and passion! Kutner Architect Builder Remodeler was great to work with. He is flexible and very creative. Not only is he the designer and architect, he is also the builder, which allowed for me to revise the design in the field while the project is underway. He is reliable and was always on the work site supervising the workers. I will certainly use him on any future projects. He did a spectacular job designing and building our backyard sports court and patio. He also added a two story circular master bedroom addition to our home. Again, I highly recommend his company.

We retained Kutner Architect to do some major work including exterior upgrades and a complete kitchen renovation which included totally gutting the kitchen and removing interior and exterior load bearing walls. He did design work and selected and managed variety of subcontractors and other professionals. The project transformed our kitchen/family room and the finished product is outstanding. The job was professionally done and was completed exactly on budget.

It has been more than two decades since Bob Kutner transformed two deteriorating porches of our end-of-group rowhome into seamless additions, handling both the design and construction with incredible skill, dedication and attention to detail. During that time, his work, which was done smoothly and according to budget, has held up perfectly, both physically and aesthetically. The first addition involved a screened porch off one of three second-floor bedrooms, which was of limited use. Securing the space structurally, and extending pipes for baseboard radiators, Bob set the stage for turning the area into a year-round addition to the bedroom. To take advantage of the southern exposure and second-floor views, he put in three-quarter length windows on three sides, making the bedroom the showpiece of the house. A small. but important decision was to carve a space into a lower wall for a unit air conditioner, so as not to break up the symmetry of the windows. The space was that was once the room for my daughter, who is long since grown and gone, is now a perfect place for plants, an exercise mat -- and an incredible guest room! Bob's work enclosing the back porch was less extensive but the results, in their own way, were just as spectacular. Again taking advantage of the southern exposure, he made extensive use of windows. And he added a small electric heater and a built-in cabinet, creating a cozy space so store light gardening tools and serve as the rear entrance to the house. Now, as when the work was done, it looks as if the work was part of our original nearly 100-year-old house! My wife and I have now lived in that house for 40 of those years, and I can say without hesitation that the work Bob did was the best investment in the property we made.
