Couldn't be happier with the beautiful custom carved mantel that we had made by Charles Ogg Furniture. His attention to every detail as well as customer service were absolutely top notch. So pleased and can't wait to send him pictures when it is all complete. He's amazing - you will not be disappointed!

My husband and I commissioned Chip to build us a hutch in 2013 for our home. It started with a design process and he sent us drawings so we could visualize the piece. We were also given opportunities to make changes until we came up with the perfect design. We then chose a gorgeous local spalted maple wood from a tree that had been blown down in a recent hurricane that hit Vermont. After the building process was complete, Chip delivered the hutch (we live local). It was extremely easy to install, it came in 2 pieces that slide together with a dove-tail like groove and becomes one solid piece. We couldn't be happier with our hutch! It is gorgeous, beautifully made and makes quite a statement in our home. From the unique spalted maple wood, to the tiny details like dove tails, it is a stunner. It is a piece of furniture that will outlast us and stay in our family for years and years. Thank you Chip!

I commissioned Charles "Chip" Ogg to design and carve a black walnut mantel with three brown trout for my cabin on the Pere Marquette River in Michigan after seeing his mantel with brook trout on his website. Chip was a pleasure to deal with; his correspondence was courteous and prompt. He asked questions about the room where the mantel will be mounted to get a feel for the project, as well as questions about the trout I catch. The mantel is absolutely stunning and will be the focal point of my great room. (I'll post a picture when the room is complete). Before choosing Chip, I looked at a vast number of carved mantels. While there are many technically skilled carvers out there, few possess Chip's artistic eye for scale and proportion. His execution was flawless; there is nothing I would change about the mantel.

How do I put into words, the dream clock build. Started off with gathering a movement and parts from a E Howard number 6 that was in a fire. A very good friend had a original example we got our hands on and we set out to make the most accurate copy in every way. Attention to detail and originality was the goal, down the the smallest of things. Along the way, made a great friend and see myself making anothers masterpiece. I have collected clocks for 20ish years and this is my number 1 cloock In my collection for many reasons.

I am an architect, have known Chip for years and have seen his carving, woodworking and furniture building skills grow into a well seasoned business. Chip's love of the concept, the design, the wood, the grain, the character, the art of transforming the board into the beautiful and functional is more than a project, it is a passion. It is an inspiration to see each piece of wood turn into an intricate product that people will enjoy for generations. Chip's wood carving skills are exquisite! When my wife and I built an addition to our home we knew we would hire Chip to add his touch to one of the rooms. We went to Chip with a concept design that he developed and detailed. Now we have a hand carved walnut mantel that has an incredible water texture and three brook trout adorning our fireplace. After construction was complete I had another concept that I wanted to see come to life. I had a round stone table top that I wanted set into a table carved with my favorite fish. We again hired Chip to build us a walnut table that is carved with a large muskie gracefully curving around the perimeter. We could not be happier with the process, design, finished products or the working relationship that developed.

Over the last several years, my wife and I have been designing and building a home in Vermont. During this time, we took the opportunity to work with the Charles Ogg Furniture shop in designing and building several custom pieces. The projects included a mahogany/copper fireplace mantel, a large mahogany/walnut/glass dining table, a mahogany/soapstone vanity, and a walnut foyer table. In all cases, "Chip" was able to take our conceptual ideas (some more detailed than others) and create beautiful, unique, and finely crafted pieces that exceeded our expectations. Working with Charles Ogg Furniture proved to be an enjoyable, productive and refreshing experience, and one which we would highly recommend to anyone who has a special project to tackle. Brad & Gail

We met Chip at a two day table-building workshop we attended, where he was one of the instructors/team helpers. We had enjoyed meeting him and working with him, so when it came time to repurpose a parlor bedroom into a study, we thought of him. Our project entailed building a two-wall unit with open bookcases above, a combination of closed storage cabinets and drawers underneath, and a small desk work surface, and pigeon hole paper organizer. Our house is a reconfigured antique with both original and reproduction features, such as moldings, raised paneling, etc. Chip was meticulous about matching the profiles of our existing moldings, antique hinges, and carpentry details original to the house. He also had to negotiate working-around tricky heating sources, as well as uneven floor and ceiling that are part of the "charm" of our antique house. We are thrilled with the work Chip did transforming our parlor into a study. We highly recommend him as a craftsperson, and he is a pleasure to work with.

From concept to design to finished product, Charles Ogg Furniture has been a pleasure to work with on a number of custom furniture collaborations. Clients have provided verbal descriptions, rough sketches and photos of desired pieces. C.O.F. quickly turns around baseline CAD drawings for review and modification. Working with feedback from the client, the project is detailed and completed on paper before being handmade to their specifications. Creative thinking combined with classic furniture making experience have resulted in overcoming a number of client driven fabrication challenges.
