21st Century Power Solutions was referred to me by Retrofit Baltimore, a nonprofit that promotes energy efficiency and maintains a stable of carefully screened contractors who have agreed to offer solar systems at negotiated prices to homeowners referred by them. Konrad Kutter, a 21st Century Power Solutions Project Manager / Design Engineer responded rapidly. He scheduled a technician to perform a solar evaluation of my roof the following week, and a meeting to go over the results and present a proposal later the same week. From my first contact with Konrad, it was clear that I was dealing with a young man who knows solar well and is committed to excellent customer service. He has university degrees in electrical and civil engineering, and was easy to work with. He offered me two system layouts and three types of panels to pick from, gave me advice about the condition of the roof, which though currently acceptable for the solar system, was showing its age and would need to be replaced in several years, and suggested that I consider trimming branches of the largest trees to increase the roof’s exposure to the sun. I accepted all of his recommendations. 21st CPS began installing the solar system two days after the roof was replaced. Most of the job was done in two days. It was finished early on the third day. The electric company replaced my one-way meter with a net meter two weeks later (mid-January), after which I turned on the system. I’m writing this in February and am pleased that when the sun is shining even on partly cloudy days, the solar system is generating more power than my house needs. As a result, not only is the system meeting my daytime need for electricity on those days, it will also further reduce my electric bill when I am paid for my excess solar-generated electricity. 21st CPS worked closely with me from start to finish. They met my schedule requirements for the project, worked quickly and carefully, and ensured that aesthetics was built into the design by routing conduit through the attic, not on the surface of the roof. They also promise to be there if I have problems down the road. I am entirely satisfied with their design expertise, installation quality, customer service, and follow up. The team at 21st Century Power Solutions installed solar panels on our town home last summer. They were professional, responsive, and thorough in all stages of the project. After installation, someone came back and looked at the project from the aesthetic perspective. (Making sure panels were centered and that hardware was hidden.)
