Very nice person. Very easy to work with. Great listener. Very creative all thru the process; from the beginning with raw concepts, to getting the most out of limited interior space, and on to exterior design. I did a three story addition in my house and remodeled some of the existing areas as well. I'm in the process of looking for a new home and I hope I can work with Guy again.

Guy continuously enhances our projects by thinking out of the box to generates interesting, innovated, stylistic designs that are both imaginative and highly efficient and function. He is a pleasure to work with and open minded. Its great doing business with him.

We hired Guy to draw up plans for our basement renovation project. We have a walk-out basement that we are creating into an additional living unit. We are also planning to renovate the upstairs of our house at some point in the future, so the basement plans had to accommodate the upstairs renovation. Guy was a pleasure to work with and always professional. His plans are of high quality and took into account the many requests we had. Without a doubt we will use Guy's services in the future.

Guy is imaginative, flexible, and very easy to work with. We are finishing a design for a second story addition to our house. We love the design he came up with. We will be getting an estimate soon, then going for the permit, so the process is not over yet.

We asked Guy to prepare the final design and layout drawings needed for our construction permit on the recommendation of our contractor. Guy came up with a number of options, some of which had never occurred to us even though we have lived in our home a long time. Guy offered many helpful suggestions and really engaged in our project. He was a pleasure to work with and very responsive in meeting with us and completing the drawings. We would definitely call on Guy for future projects.

Guy was a truly creative and wonderful person to work with on a large scale and fast track residential project. He was able to quickly come up with creative solutions to tricky situations that commonly arise in working on older homes.

Guy is not only a great architect but is a very nice man. He has a very calm demeanor which is so important (especially for a type A personality like myself that can get worked into a lather by Gov rigmarole) when dealing with the different agencies one has to deal with to get any project through building, planning, permits, etc. His plans have never been returned and he has always been very proactive in the process when any Gov. official has a question. Guy has worked with me on multiple projects and in cities where it is not easy to get permits and or projects approved. I have Guy to thank for the beautiful homes that I have because with out him I am sure it would have not have gone the way it did (as smoothly as could be expected). I used him for legalizing an In Law unit in SF (the unit was built in 1957 with a permit but the permit was never closed. Obviously building codes have changed and there was recent legislation that "grandfather clause" allowed for the legalization as long as MANY requirements were satisfied. Then I used him to look into building on to my home in SF to add a bathroom (in the end, it did not make financial sense but he came up with great ideas that could be used in the future if i want to revisit the idea. The most recent project Guy did for us was an entire house remodel in East Palo Alto. The area is quickly gentrifying and the Building and Planning Dept doubled in size in the year I have owned and remodeled the home. Again, we took advantage of recent legislation that allows one to take over every sq foot of the garage. Guy not only helped in the plans for the remodel of the "main part of the house" which included a "green" approach with solar power, on demand-tankless water heater, all LED lights, drought tolerant landscaping etc. but also the addition of creating a master bedroom with walk in closet (something I did not think of but he did), 2nd bathroom and mudroom. Again, when there is new legislation and fast growth, the city is not well equipped to deal with the changes as fast as the changes are being made. Again, Guy has the patience of a saint when dealing with confused city officials that want to CYA (cover their own behinds) and not expose their ignorance and inadequacies. It is always easier to say "NO" when one is a city official. But, that "NO" can cost a homeowner big $$$$$. Guy is great with navigating the system, even when there is not a clear one in place. This allows the Gov official to save face and for the home owner to save $. I will use him again and already have an idea to expand sq footage again once I recover a bit from the last project. Guy designed my new kitchen and did a marvelous job. He was very creative, had wonderful ideas while listening to my needs and constraints. He helped make my kitchen more open, developed a work station -it's my favorite room in my home. Guy was always very professional,, reliable, always extending himself beyond what was expected. Guy was a great architect to work with and I would recommend him to others. I also hope to use his services again for the new additions we are considering in 2016. We worked with Guy in 2012 after we bough our first home in Oakland and needed to complete several major renovations including a bathroom, stairwell, and kitchen. Guy gave us some very good ideas and also worked with us on being as cost effective as possible. He also provided paperwork to make sure we had the necessary approvals from the Oakland permit office.

We bought a wonderful house and needed help turning it into a wonderful home, that was all ours. Guy did the entire design, with attention to our input, our needs, even our idiosyncrasies. He was smart, attentive and prompt. Maybe not so important to some of you was the way he managed what many of our neighbors have found a tedious permit process, submitting plans, revising, emphasizing adherence to standards even before it was requested. It went like a charm and the professionalism of the presentation so impressed the planning board and inspectors that the project was a breeze. We were so pleased that we engaged Guy for a second remodel on a different project even larger than the first.

Guy was great. He really listened to our needs/concerns and came through with plans that were not only well designed down to the small details, they also fit within our limited parameters of size & budget.

I have worked with numerous architects over the years and Guy is the consummate and respectful professional. Guy is collaborative and passionate. My wife and I have only the highest regard for Guy. We did an extensive remodel of our home and Guy listened carefully and intently to our needs. He completely understood us, and came up with a design that we loved, and when the bids were over budget, he redesigned to fit the budget. His input was artistic and sensitive. Guy did two jobs for us. He measured out our whole house first and then he drew up our plans for an addition to the back of our house and was a liaison with our contractor.

Guy was highly recommended to us by a satisfied neighbor who did an enormous foundation-up remodel. We interviewed 4 other architects but ultimately chose Guy because he was so enthusiastic, embracing our project right from his first site visit. Architect Guy Lubroth created an addition to my home that makes it a multi-generational house with room for an expanding number of family members while at the same time he provided beautiful spaces for me to enjoy. He is amazingly imaginative, flexible, and always listens to what your needs are. His incredible knowledge of design, structure, and functionality, as well as the permitting and building process makes him more than an architect. He is concerned about the total project -- landscaping, privacy, ease of access, environmental sustainability, neighborhood integration, and hundreds of other considerations that would never have occurred to me.
