Design and aesthetics have been a lifelong passion for Julie, expanding from her early childhood years to the launch of her own firm in 2015. After graduating from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Julie worked with the acclaimed firm, Backen Gillam and Kroeger Architects where she spent ten years developing a strong sense of managing projects ranging from high-end residencies in Napa, Aspen, Long island, Nebraska, and Seoul, Korea to designing wineries and restaurants in CA. For the latter five years of working with BGK, she had the pleasure of managing the interiors department where she honed in on her talents of not only mentoring an entire staff but partnering with architects during large scale projects to oversee the design process from start to finish. With this extensive background of working primarily with architects, Julie is able to work from the early stages of a project to define the spacial relationships with a full team, down to the final accessorizing portions that go into making a space unique and one of a kind. This even includes, architectural finishes, hardware, lighting, appliances and plumbing. Being part of the creative process for large scale projects in tandem with architects, Julie is able to make sure the project has a common DNA that is shown throughout every part of the space, making it cohesive and equally functional as it is beautiful. Julie has acquired extensive knowledge of product and materials throughout her career which allows Hawkins Interiors to be able to foster nurtured relationships with each client, extracting what their goals are and aesthetically-translate this for the client into a finished project, whether it be a home, restaurant, or capacious winery. It is through this working relationship process that Hawkins Interiors is able to provide design services that produce an outcome that is beautifully singular and individual for each client.
