Barbara was a joy to work with! I thought there would be some challenges with my back yard but with her knowledge and creativity she came up with a beautiful design. It was a great experience and we love our landscape!

Barbara is wonderful! She is patient, knowledgeable and I couldn't be more pleased with my yard. After the project started I changed my mind about a couple of major details. I decided to remodel our old garage into an outdoor room which changed how we could use the yard. I called Barbara and she enthusiastically arranged to come to my house to listen to my concerns. She said she wanted me to be happy, asked a few questions, quietly thought for a few minutes, and almost instantly came up with a solution to my concerns. She then drew a rough sketch of what the new plan could look like. What had bothered me for days was quickly addressed and resolved without burden. It has been a year since all of the plants have been planted. Our small yard has been transformed into a peaceful haven for hummingbirds, Mason bees, song birds and humans. Instead of avoiding our yard we are drawn into our yard where we enjoy meals, playing, reading books, listening to my daughter play the cello... It is exactly what I would have wished for if I had known enough about design to wish for it. Just perfect!

Barbara Hilty is an amazing landscape designer! I started working with Barbara in 2007 when my husband and I built a new house, and I didn't want to landscape without a clear plan. Barbara came to our home, walked through every room looking out every window to see what view each held, then walked around outside checking out the outside views and issues that needed to be addressed in the design. After all of that, she sat with me asking me what my vision was for my garden. She spent time listening to my flower and garden style preferences, making suggestions. We highly recommend this very personable and professional designer. She listened carefully, came up with a plan that not only satisfied our request but took into account issues we didn't even think of, and she was never defensive if we asked for another suggestion. She had great contractors for us to interview and she stayed involved in the entire process to iron out any problems. Our project was extensive including replacing the back patio, replacing rock walls with concrete retaining walls with masonry cap, and replacing the front lawn with an array of reused and new plants to showcase the new front porch we had just installed. Absolutely beautiful!

Barbara designed our front yard landscape. We love it. The old front yard was depressing and the eyesore of the neighborhood. Pulling into our driveway and looking at the busy yard with too many plants and a hodge podge design created a feeling of chaos and overload. Now, each time we look at the landscape, we smile and are thrilled with what Barbara created. The look is pleasing, the layout is very functional, the design, the plants, the extra touches are wonderful. We have now become the beauty of the neighborhood. Barbara designed a fairy wonderland out of our backyard for our son's wedding. She knows plants for the northwest very well and had great ideas for what we wanted. In our case the garden includes planting borders with species that bloom at different times of the year, species with fragrance, lawn, rock work, a patio, and a deck, The pictures speak for themselves.

Our dental practice, Burlingame Dental Arts, hired Barbara to re do our landscaping. The plan she designed was so beautiful and improved the look of the building immensely. Barbara is very creative and able to think outside the box. We had some difficult logistic issues with the back of our office and she solved these problems easily.
