We chose Hofmann Design Build for a major project in our home and were not disappointed. They weren't the cheapest, but - as they say - you get what you pay for. The planning process was superb. Everything was agreed before construction started. This prevented delays and accurately budgeted costs. No surprises. Ernie's experience and reputation smoothed the way through some tricky zoning issues. Once construction started, Steve L took over and managed the project superbly. We could always reach him. The teams minimized disruption. In sum, we were VERY satisfied. So satisfied that we hired Hofmann's bathroom crew to come back a year later to update one of our bathrooms. That was also a completely satisfactory experience.

We did a gut renovation with Hofmann Design Build and had a great experience. His team was professional, responsive and did high quality work. They never cut corners and included us in all the choices, guiding us the whole way. Their prices were fair and comprable to other builders in the area. They were also very helpful in our kitchen design. I would use them again and highly recommend them.

We have worked with Ernie Hoffman and his staff on a couple of projects that have energized our home, which was originally built in the 1920s. One involved creating a new front door and entrance in what was once a small office/window. We have a Tudor-style home and the new front entrance involved a beautifully carved stone surround and stone steps that curve gracefully outward. Inside the front door, the creation of the entrance involved making a doorway into our living room in what was previously a plastered wall, and laying wood floors that matched the rest of the wood floors in our main level. The architect and craftsmen who worked on this job really outdid themselves sourcing beautiful materials and ensuring that colors and moldings were carefully matched. The entire project fits our home so perfectly that it really looks and feels like it always should have been there. The other project involved updating the master ensuite. This job involved literally stripping our existing bathroom and building it up from scratch. Incredible attention to detail from both the architect and the tradespeople resulted in a beautiful and updated gem that fits the style of our home, but that improved the look and function of the ensuite dramatically. This job was done before the entrance project and the ease of working with Ernie and his team, and the care that the team took to complete the job, made it obvious that Hofmann Design Build should be our first call with any other projects for our home.

Hofmann Design team are as professional and competent as they come. We did a bathroom gut and all went as smoothly as one only hopes for with a renovation. Carla and Mike were great with guidance and communication throughout the project. The end result was exactly what we had hoped for. We would definitely use Hofmann again for any home future home projects.

Ernie and his team are the best in the business. Our home was gut renovated from top to bottom during Covid and looking back, I don't know how we were able to pull off what we did but I'm sure we couldn't have done it without Hofmann Design Build. Ernie is one of the most professional and patient people I've met. He listened to our needs and worked with us throughout the course of the project. Most times you find that people who sell the project, disappear after work starts. Not so with Ernie. Steve, our project manager, was equally amazing. He and his crew worked relentlessly to finish the project despite multiple subcontractor and material shortages. The quality of their work speaks for itself as whoever comes to our home remarks on how beautifully everything turned out. I cannot recommend these folks highly enough!

It began with an idea: wouldn’t it be great if THAT window were our front door? So much more convenient and easier to get to and from our driveway. We mulled that idea over for years and then we brought it to HDB because they had successfully renovated our master bathroom about a year before. We worked with one of their architects to plan and select every detail involved in the project before the amazing building team even set foot in our home. That little idea led to a collaborative project that resulted in HDB building the graceful, architecturally integrated but updated front entrance we are enjoying today. It has completely transformed the flow of our main floor and brought lots more light into our living room. Bill and the building team expertly managed the process to reduce discomfort, down-time and even reducing stress on our pet. In the process, we updated the heating and refinished all the wood floors...all completed on time. So grateful for Ernie, Carla, Dana, Bill and the rest of the team, and Lynda.

Ernie and his team worked on our Queen Ann turn of the century home in Madison NJ They were extremely focused on matching the hand crafted railings and moldings and extended our porch to the new mudroom. High quality, reasonably priced and attention to detail. I would add that I have shown quotes on a vacation home to Ernie and team and they saved me thousands in NOT overpaying, letting me know when estimates were out of the ballpark. We were very pleased and impressed with the entire Hofmann team. Our sunroom and family room came out beautiful. Dana, our architect listened to our vision and how we planned to use the space. She even came over with the plans so we could use blue tape and envision the plans in the room. This ensured there were no surprises and brought the plans to life for us. As a result the design met all our needs and wishes. Bill, our project manager and his team are true professionals and craftsman. Plus everyone was super nice. No detail was overlooked. Bill was in constant communication, let me know the schedule and was very diligent in making sure we were happy and the project was moving smoothly. They were a pleasure to deal with and because of our experience with Bill and the team, Hofmann will be our go to for any home improvements.

We worked with this group in 2015 to redo our whole home. They were very professional and came in on time & within budget. The architect, design teams & site managers were all easy to work with. Our home went from a typical cape cod to an open floor plan modern home with Craftsman touches. We liked it so much that we wanted to use them for a second home renovation.

HDB completed our whole first floor renovation and then a full bath Reno a year later. The entire experience was stress free and their team was so professional, organized, and they finished exactly when they said they would. I wouldn’t use any other company, our project manager Bill was truly the best!
