The Institute of Carpenters was established in 1890, to help maintain standards and skills at a time when traditional skills were being lost. Over a century later, we’re still committed to upholding the highest standards of our historic craft and membership is now open to all craftspeople working in wood trades (e.g. carpenters, joiners, furniture makers and shop fitters).

Trusted Traders, discounts on websites, branded work wear and printing, trade specific insurance packages, 10% discounts on accountancy services, and a 25% discount at HANDS HQ. You’ll also get four magazines a year, CPD opportunities and regional membership and networking groups as well as free listing on our website. If you are a member of the public looking for a carpenter, you can search our directory of members working in wood trades in your area. We only approve members with relevant qualifications and proven track record and it's all backed up by references.
