Jeff was great. He redesigned my front and back yard and I get compliments on it all the time. Not only did he do an amazing job on the design of my yard in 2011, but when I called him back in January of 2018, he was able to give me the drawings and plant list for the yard. Perfect because I had rented the house and had tenants that did not take care of the yard. Its nice to know I can restore it to the amazing design. Thanks, Jeff!

Hi Pat -
I wanted to respond to your review to provide a more accurate representation of the situation. Particularly since you were not involved in any conversations or meetings, as I worked exclusively with your wife, I want to ensure the true story was shared.

Your wife found Cleator Landscape Design through our website, which outlines the services we offer, including a full landscape design plan and a conceptual sketch - as well as the specifics of what is included in each service and examples of both. Your wife selected the conceptual sketch offering, which is describe on the website as "...a 8 1/2″x11″ hand drawn sketch of the area showing a general layout of plant material and outdoor elements without precise measurements. This is typical not enough information for a contractor to work from, but can help show the hidden potential of your landscape."

In addition to this detail that is provided on the website, which your wife reviewed prior to contacting us, I also informed her in our initial phone conversation and onsite that conceptual sketches typically do not include dimensions, however as an added value I would provide loose approximations of quantity and dimensions of material. I also stated clearly during the meeting that we don't provide irrigation notes of any kind in conceptual sketches.

The difference between the conceptual sketch and the full landscape design plan is that all of that additional information is provided - exact quantities, plants, materials, dimensions, site analysis, lighting and irrigation notes, etc. That level of detail and work involved is the reason behind the price difference between the two offerings, and the reason why your conception sketch was provided at such a low price point.

When I provided the conceptual sketch, as outlined, discussed and agreed upon, I also offered to make any updates or revisions as requested, something your wife did not opt for. In fact, I was not made aware of any dissatisfaction with the sketch provided until the payment was reversed on your check. At that time, I reached out multiple times via phone and email to discuss the matter, offer to redesign the sketch at no cost, and make the situation right. I never received a response.

I can only assume that your dissatisfaction came from wanting a full landscape design at the cost of a conceptual sketch. I fully stand behind my work, and will own any role that I played in the confusion or misunderstanding, however I believe I made every attempt to rectify the situation and was met with no willingness to work together to do so.

Mr. Cleator provided professional consulting services for design, implementation and project management for our HOA's landscaping retrofit. This project was a comprehensive overhaul to drought tolerant and drip irrigation. Mr. Cleator and his team were extremely thoughtful to the needs of the HOA and ensured that the project was delivered to our specification on time and within budget. He had a great relationship with our other vendors and all deliverables were high quality. There were no issues in our project and we have Cleator landscape design to thank for that.

Jeff from Cleator Landscape helped me with my front and back yard. It wasn't a huge project but it looks great and it's low maintenance. He was easy to get a hold of and was really knowledgeable with drought tolerant plants. I would definitely use him again.

Jeff created our design plan on time and within budget. I found Jeff to be very knowledgeable and creative during the design process. Although we did not implement the plan because we decided to sell our home I would recommend Jeff for his design services.

We worked with Jeff Cleator over several weeks n 2015 to redesign our back and side yard. We selected Jeff after interviewing four landscape designers. We met with Jeff 4-5 times as we walk thru the design process, made additions and modifications to our plans and approved the final design. Jeff suggested three possible landscape contractors. We interviewed four different contractors and obtained 4 estimates. We selected Lindholm Landscape to implement Jeff's design. In the summer of 2017 we will be using Jeff again as we redesign and refresh our front yard. You can be very confident in the design process that Jeff uses, the quality of his work, the quality of the materials that he selects for his projects. We are very pleased.

I've worked with Jeff on two projects - one residential and one commercial. He was easy to work with on both projects and listened to owner and contractor input. His designs are modern and elegant and pay homage to the existing structures, neighborhood and environment. He also paid attention to the budget constraints and designed around the budgets accordingly - a difficult trait to find in architects and designers. The residential project turned out amazing and we're currently in the bidding process on the commercial project.
