Jim Gerrity is a visionary who is delightful to work with. While my husband and I had our own ideas about the design for a major renovation, we knew we needed help with the architectural principles because we wanted the final product to be attractive as well as functional. We chose Jim because of the beauty of his designs as well as his reputation for attention to detail and excellence. Jim had as many ideas as we did, and was patient as we sorted thought the multiple possibilities in a collaborative process. During our initial discussions, he provided rough drafts to clarify ideas and he’d then develop beautiful drawings to illustrate the agreed upon design. His experience played a big part in making sure the finished spaces are incredibly beautiful in part by gently guiding us away from some bad ideas. We couldn’t be happier with the space and would highly recommend Jim.

We had a wonderful experience working with Jim to add a covered portico to our house. Jim is responsive, his attention to detail is outstanding, our discussions were always thorough, and we had a very good understanding of what the end result would be before starting construction. The building contractor also appreciated that nothing was ambiguous or left to chance. The portico is a beautiful addition to the house, giving it the architectural identity we were looking for. The neighbors, too, have been very complimentary of the addition.

I contacted Jim about a remodeling project we have been planning and are in the process of trying to get off the ground. Through exchanging several emails over a few days, I was able to get a feel for Jim's depth of knowledge and experience, thoughtfulness and attention to detail, responsiveness, integrity, and good nature. He instantly picked up on some tricky nuances in my plan that I've been grappling with for roughly a year and made some helpful suggestions for moving forward. In the end, we agreed that my project needs were not aligned with the best use of his talents, but he was able to help point me in the right direction with some referrals, and I am confident that for the right project, he would be a tremendous asset in bringing your dreams to life!

A friend in the construction business recommended Jim — and boy are we glad he did! Jim laid out the design process and costs really clearly and walked us through every step. Jim’s attention to detail and understanding of our vision for our home coalesced into a design that completely transformed our first floor - with features we hadn’t even considered. He was readily available to address our questions and concerns. His helped us identify contractors and was very helpful in understanding budgets, including reviewing our final construction contract. His detailed plans ensured that our contractor delivered the project as planned. We couldn’t be happier with the result. Jim was a real pleasure to work with and we would highly recommend him to anyone undertaking a renovation large or small.

We were thrilled with the work that Jim did in re-designing our church Sanctuary. He nurtured our renovations committee through the process of a redesign, and helped us understand each phase of such a big project. We felt that we could trust his insight and recommendations. Jim was a great listener and took seriously our input and desires along the way. He seemed to intuitively understand our hopes and dreams for the renovated space. We unequivocally recommend Jim Gerretty as an architect. We had started plans with someone else who was not responsive /not "hearing what we wanted." Jim "got it"..and then took our ideas to a higher level entirely. Jim designed a complete house renovation with a new side addition. He followed the entire project closely - helping us to find a builder and inspecting construction periodically throughout the project. In addition, he was a pleasure to work with.

I am so glad I found Jim. He made several suggestions that greatly improved the esthetics of my addition and pointed out items of concern that I had not noticed before. He has an excellent eye for detail and a wonderful artistic bent that improved the final look of my addition. He was prompt, available, and very responsive to any and all of my concerns. His detailed plans made it easy to compare bids from different contractors. His fee was very reasonable and I would easily use his services again and would highly recommend his work to others.

Jim Gerrety is a wonderful architect. He has a great eye for detail and for getting the aesthetic just right. He has a practical approach to construction based on his past experience working in the field as a carpenter. He understands quality and always specifies the best products to meet the needs of his client. He worked with my wife and I to design the perfect space for us, transforming an old cottage into an amazing new space which still reflects the beauty of the original construction. As a builder, I have worked with him on many projects and will continue to do so.

Jim is an A+ Architect. If I could give more stars I would. Jim was the architect for an extensive addition and whole house remodel. He was able to put our spoken vision of what we wanted in a new kitchen, great room, outdoor space and man cave into hand drawn sketches and architectural plans. Jim was instrumental in turning our dreams into reality and we couldn’t be happier. Jim is a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend Jim.
