I had issues but meritage worked hard to resolve, i think it’s the nature of the trade workers these days.

I second the negative feedback from other customers. I am compelled to share my harrowing experience with Meritage Homes in Florida, as a cautionary tale for anyone considering their services. My family's journey with this builder has been nothing short of a nightmare, filled with incompetence, broken promises, unethical practices and disrespectful behavior from the sales associate.
From the moment we engaged with their sales associate, it became clear that their priority was closing the sale, not ensuring customer satisfaction. They consistently lied, failed to provide the promised updates, and demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and they will lie and do anything to get your earnest money.
The construction process was marred by unending delays, pushing our patience to its limits. Deadlines were disregarded, leaving us in a state of constant uncertainty and frustration. To make matters worse, the quality of workmanship was shockingly poor, with sloppy mistakes and numerous structural issues throughout our home.
What truly enraged me was their attempt to scam us by passing off standard materials as upgrades. This blatant deception reflects a complete disregard for integrity and a willingness to take advantage of unsuspecting customers.
I recommend you to think twice before considering Meritage Homes for your home building needs. Share this warning with others, so they may be spared the immense frustration and heartache that I have endured. Let us hold companies accountable for their actions and demand transparency, honesty, and quality in every aspect of the home building process.

Dear Management of Meritage Homes, I am writing to you today to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the quality of the home appliances that were provided to me as part of my new home purchase. I have been experiencing persistent issues with these appliances, and despite repeated attempts to address the issue, I have not received any satisfactory resolution. It is disappointing to see that Meritage Homes has taken a sales strategy of handing over extremely poor quality home appliances to customers, causing them to suffer with constant follow-ups and poor quality service from the appliance vendor. It is unacceptable that customers are expected to bear the brunt of the responsibility for the faulty appliances and suffer through the inconvenience of investing time and money into repairing or replacing them. As a customer, I was under the impression that the appliances provided to me would be of a certain standard and quality. However, the appliances that were handed over to me were not fit for purpose, and I had to spend another 1000 USD on buying a new appliance. The warranty program attached was of no use, and it was frustrating to be thrown like a ping pong ball between Meritage and the appliance vendor, without receiving any meaningful resolution. I urge Meritage Homes to take responsibility for the poor quality appliances provided to me and other customers, and take steps to rectify the situation. Customers should not be left to suffer through the inconvenience and expense of repairing or replacing appliances that were promised to be of a certain standard. I hope that you will take this matter seriously and take steps to ensure that other consumers are made aware of the risks associated with purchasing a home from Meritage Homes. I urge you to take immediate action to address this situation and provide a satisfactory resolution to the issue at hand. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Meritage Homes is a company that is an absolute nightmare to work with. We fell
for the illusion that our amazing sales experience gave us and put down money
for a house in Harper’s Preserve, a bad decision that we have now come to regret.
Our place is well past the construction deadline, yet we are unable to move in due
to constant construction and electricity delays.
Meritage Homes made a commitment to us to have electricity in the whole area,
yet they still don’t have any. The amount of delays that this problem has caused
does not seem to faze the management team, considering how unbothered they
seem. Meritage should not have made promises they couldn’t keep!

Bought the house 7.5 years ago. The kitchen sink kept clogged until recently we had the plumber ran the camera and found an PVC object stuck in the drain line. Which is obviously left during construction!!After I provided the pictures and video, they started to deny the problem, refused to take the responsibility and fixe the problem. Spent thousands dollars myself already.
The so called warranty department job is to simply deny the claims. Worst experience ever! Reconsider if you want to purchase their house.

My Meritage home was built in 2012, and we’ve lived in it since 2016 with no issues. I’ve experienced wonderful, prompt customer service and am really impressed with the home features! The thick, insulated walls are unreal - we save so much on heating/cooling!

Is the worst experience of buying a home they don’t give us what they tell us what supposed to come on the package
And they take forever to came and fix think on the one year guarantee if you ask me if I’ll buy a home with them never again for the stars I I’ll put 0.00000000

We were so excited to purchase a new build from Meritage Homes and couldn’t wait to start the build of our dream home. This has been a disaster from day one! We signed in Dec 2020, and work really didn’t get started until March.
Kyle, our sales point of contact informed us we would get weekly updates on the build process and ensured us we had the best Construction Manager they had to offer (of course we do!). We meet Jesse, he informed us the anticipated close date would be end of Aug, but he would try his best to hit July.
The weekly emails started off with just enough information to make us want more. I was very thankful, polite, and was looking forward to weekly emails. As the project moved on, we flew through ground prep, framing, plumbing, rough electric, etc. I thought wow this project is really moving! That is when the whole project halted for 3 MONTHS!!! The project had failed framing and plumbing inspections. The weekly emails turned into every other week. The status of the project was a cut and paste from week to every other week, ‘we are working on framing and plumbing issues’. I live close enough to the project site, I went out pretty much every other date. Nothing had been touched for months!!
Finally after 3 month delay. Project started moving along again and the new close date went from Aug, to Sept, October, and now Nov (may be Dec or later). Emails from Jesse pretty much stopped, I had to email him early Oct to ensure our close date was still good. Jesse informed me, Oct was not going to work and the close date had been pushed to Nov 15. This was frustrating due to NO ONE INFORMING ME about this change. We extended our lease on the apartment to month-to-month, due to the September close date that was relayed back in Aug. If we had known it was going to be Nov now we could have signed a 3 month lease and saved us hundreds of dollars. We have to pay an extra $500 a month going to month-to-month lease.
I contacted Kyle on Nov 1 to confirm the Nov 15th close date. He called Jesse to find out the status of the project and informed me we ‘MAYBE’ will close on the 15th due to they don’t have an AC unit for our home and we cannot close without it. Reminder, I don’t get weekly updates anymore.
I have no timeline on when they will be able to source an AC until and we can move into our new home.
We have contacted our leasing office to see if we could extend our lease for another month, only to find out the until has already been rented for December. This is VERY impactful due to both of us working from home. It would cost us over $10000 to find a new place with a short term lease, missed work, moving, deposits, utility services, etc.
I am so extremely disappointed in the process dealing with Meritage Homes. I had such great hopes and dreams about moving into our new home, now I just dread every contact with Kyle or Jesse (when I make contact with them!!). Our dream home has turned into a nightmare I cant wait to wake up from!

We absolutely love our new home and we're so impressed with the quality and care of the entire team. They answered any questions we had throughout the entire process and made sure we were taken care of .

Closing Dates are needed to plan!!! Come on now. Give them. Our home is nearly complete. This isn’t right.

Unfortunately, I am one of the many that appear to be disappointed with a meritage home. I, also, have had repeated broken promises and ignored emails. I have reported warranty issues and have had some repaired but certainly not all. We have been through 3 customer care reps in 1 year and not a single one has completed all the warranty issues. My year is now up and I feel as though my concerns have been purposely missed. The bathtub in the guest bathroom contained rust which was missed on our 7 day inspection because it’s infrequently used. This claim was denied due to hard water. Hard water in a bathtub that isn’t being used causes rust? This still has not been fixed. The stair rail is coming loose from the wall. Our most recent appointment for warranty work was supposed to have fixed this. Instead we were given the run a round. Drywall should fix this, drywall says paint, paint says carpenter. Carpenter has not came and repeated emails to customer care rep are being ignored. How does a brand new house have this many issues?

I have had several significant problems with my home and the warranty Meritage provides is useless. The warranty rep readily agreed that my home's issues needed to be fixed but it's been nothing but broken promises and ignored phone calls ever since. On top of that, the finishing work on the house is of a very low quality. The texture on the interior walls is a mess, stucco is wavy and uneven, the tile floors were covered in glue and paint. I wish I had never bought this house.
