Michael Valvo Design is dedicated to creating meaningful environments. Our esthetic is rooted in classic, romantic lines presented with a modern approach and response to the natural world. Michael Valvo, Creative Director, has worked in design for nearly three decades. He studied at the Boston Architectural Center, and is a graduate of the New England School of Art and Design where he taught in the Adult Education Program. His work has been seen in Design Center showcases, private homes, and pop-up exhibits. He is an art and history buff, cook, stylist, who loves exploring different cultures and food. Michael was an instrumental piece of the team that helped build our dream home. He was with us from the start and helped all the way through the process. The breadth of his knowledge and experience in the design/build space helped our family turn our dream into reality. He worked with us and our architect to develop our floor plan in a way that made sense for our family and how we would use each space. He learned about our tastes and preference and would go to stores well in advance to narrow down choices for things like tile, lights, and floor coverings so that when we went with him all we needed to do was choose from a few carefully selected options. As a result of this process our entire house has a flow and feel that makes sense. Without him I would not have some of the design features that are my very favorites. He helped keep everything on schedule which I know our builder appreciated as they were never waiting for things to arrive. I highly recommend Michael and Michael Valvo Designs!

Michael Valvo is an interior design with panache and a drive to exceed expectations. I am an architect. Michael worked with us on a team submittal to a large $5M re-branding proposal project. There was a lot of visioning and conceptual brainstorming during this project and Michael was a valued asset. He brought great ideas and a sense of savvy discipline to the questions we raised regarding setting a design tone and a "fit". His presentations were lively and spirited but also grounded in his experience which we found to be stabilizing. I would heartily recommend Red M Studio to future clients.

Mike Valvo was our decorator when we moved into our co-op apartment in Cambridge. He was most helpful in determining which pieces of furniture we could keep and picked our all the fabrics for the recovering of the furniture. We used the people he recommended to do the upholstery and slip-covering of the furniture. His work has stood up for years. We couldn't be more satisfied. Mike was also very easy to work with, always prompt, respectful of our needs and taste. I recommend him completely.

Michael has been working with us for over a year. He has spent a lot of time determining what both my husband and I like together as well as what works in our space and for our lives. Everything he has done has been fantastic - from color selection to furniture, lighting. etc. We will continue to work with him as we proceed with improvements to our home. Michael is an artist and works brilliantly with ideas and concepts. I wanted to make our mid-century home friendly, accessible, and not an effete showcase. He truly responded to our needs and created an open concept that is historically accurate, up to date, and relaxed. We love our new home! Michael engaged us like no other designer we know.
