Philip Nimmo is a tour de force in the world of design, at the helm of a flourishing interior design practice and a highly acclaimed line of artistic wrought-iron fire screens, lighting, furniture and hardware. His passion for interior design has been recognized by such celebrities as Sir Anthony and Stella Hopkins and Jaclyn Smith in addition to financial and media magnates from both coasts. Raised in San Clemente, California, Philip studied at the University of Southern California focusing on business management. Subsequently he joined the elite staff of the newly formed Ritz Carlton Hotel Company, where he worked as the corporate director of banquets. Ultimately, he moved to Los Angeles and began working as an interior designer, gradually building his clientele. After a client asked Philip to custom-make a fire screen for his odd-sized fireplace and Philip created an extraordinary piece, he thought there might be a market for his iron work. In its infancy Ironworks specialized in fireplace accessories, but when Philip realized that his designs could be translated into other forms, he expanded the line to include furniture and lighting. Started in 2002, Philip Nimmo Ironworks has grown to become an internationally recognized brand and is represented in select showrooms across the United States, including Jean de Merry in Los Angeles and Chicago, Profiles in New York, J Nelson in Miami and Atlanta, and Sloan Miyasato in San Francisco. A design powerhouse, Philip’s couture work can be seen in a variety of exclusive residential environments as well as commercial settings and hotels from the United States to Dubai. Philip’s dynamic personality has become as recognized as his undeniable talent. Known to brighten any room just by entering it, his genuine and hospitable nature has created long-lasting relationships with his high-profile clientele. Philip’s Los Angeles home, appropriately named Siempre Viva (Always Alive), is often a gathering place for clients and design industry professionals who enjoy breaking bread together on the terrace in his garden.
