Our experience with Sarah Gallop Design was overwhelmingly positive. They helped us create a space that is beautiful, functional and truly us. We worked with Jessica and her attention to detail was impeccable. Their design process was informed and considered -they listened and understood our likes and dislikes and considered how our family lives and uses the space before jumping into design. After 4 years of searching, we purchased a home in 2020, in our favourite neighbourhood. It needed a little updating, but the location was perfect, so we knew we had to make it work. We decided to make some upgrades and couldn't think of a better designer to help us than Sarah Gallop. Sarah and her team were quick to visit our home to take measurements and photos. They listened to our wishes with regards to colour schemes, materials, fixtures, and functionality, and took those into consideration throughout the design process. They even helped choose furniture colours and fabrics that would complement the newly renovated areas. They recommended several contractors we could meet for interviews, so we could decide who we'd work best with for these projects. The team at SGDI was always available to troubleshoot with our contractor when the need arose. When on site, the team was always professional and respectful inside our home. Over the course of the next 2.5 years, we slowly renovated parts of our home that needed updating. It was a long process, but we are so thrilled with the outcome and are beyond happy with how things turned out. We plan to be here enjoying our beautiful space for many years to come!

We met with a few designers before deciding to work with Sarah, Rob, and Co. We are so happy that we went with them- the team is professional, skilled, and always there when things go a little crazy (as all massive renos or new builds do!) We had a vision of what we wanted and it was a little off the beaten path for design... but everyone at SGDI helped us get there and we are very pleased with the results. From getting the permits to working with our building contractor, this team helped us create our dream house and I would recommend them for anyone looking to embark on similar adventures.

We hired SGDI to help us my husband and I with big reno ideas for my home in Delta. We have lived in this home for many years and don’t plan on ever leaving- so we had to do it just right! The renovation we envisioned would mainly move our primary suite to the main floor so we can age in place, improve our laundry room and give us a bit more space in our home for crafts and office work. We couldn’t work within the space we had, so we knew an addition was needed. As we wanted a grand, generously sized space, the design ended up being a significant addition on the back of the house, almost 2,000 sft. Permits were required by City of Delta and hoops had to be jumped through due to our location on a waterway. Sarah and her team dealt with all the permitting and environmental work required to make this renovation happen. They worked alongside our contractor that I had a previous relationship with and assisted in construction as needed. The result is phenomenal! We are so blessed to have such a fantastic home that we can grow old in. Our ensuite bathroom is a thing to behold! We love all of the beautiful thought through details and special features. Sarah also referred us to a great landscape designer who completed the project with the most beautiful gardens and pond. We have a beautiful oasis in our backyard now which rounds out the perfect home. We are so glad we called Sarah and had her transform our ‘old home’ into our ‘forever home’!

Sarah Gallop and her team helped us in the design of our home in Burnaby. There are so many ups and downs of planning a home and building, and we were really happy that we went with Sarah Gallop. They did all the necessary planning with engineering and communicating promptly with the city. Before we chose our designer, we spoke with several builders and they all spoke very highly of her - so the decision was made easy. The process can seem disorganized at times as there's lots of juggling within a project and her needing to manage several projects at once. There was one incident where Sarah accepted responsibility for something that was missed and had costly consequences, and this was really impressive and shows her professionalism. If we had to do it all over again I'd definitely use Sarah Gallop and I'd highly recommend them as an excellent designer to consider.

We are so happy we engaged SGDI to help us with our custom home project. We had a great house plan in hand, but needed an interior designer to ensure that the rest of the house was done properly. Sarah was able to help us refine our house plans, which was great. As much as they were in good shape, she suggested some subtle things in a few places that we had not thought of, which made things more functional. The level of detail in the drawings and specifications allowed our builder to execute efficiently and definitely was appreciated by the contractor and trades. We are busy people with young kids, so the amount of time saved was invaluable. Not to mention the number of mistakes that were avoided. So many people that come to our home are shocked at how beautiful it is. And I proudly tell them that it is a Sarah Gallop designed home. The details are so thought through, and the feel of the home is something that must be experienced to be understood. You walk into the house, and it just feels right. As much as we have an amazing home, we are still watching Sarah and her team transform homes on Instagram and it is exciting to see all the stuff SGDI comes up with. A great team and a great investment! You can’t go wrong.

Excellent Service! Was a little leery using a design service that was not local to the city we were building in, but Angela made the whole process seamless. We appreciated her input and she did a great job of knowing they style we were trying to achieve. Angela was always available to meet with us and most importantly anytime we had an issue with a product/service they recommended she was on the phone trying resolve for us. I would not hesitate to use SGDI; in fact, we also used them for our lake home!

We began working with them early and their ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with our builder from the getgo made all the difference. Their input on the exterior and interior design of our home was amazing. They were able to take all the things we loved and make it a reality in our home. It was a few years ago when I first met with Rob and Sarah Gallop to discuss working with them on the interiors of our new yet to be built home in Belcarra. I very quickly realized these were the people and this was the team that I wanted to create our dream. We were living full time in Australia but I had every intention of trying to be in Canada as frequently as possible to be part of the process, which is something that I was very excited about. Shortly after ground broke on the build Covid hit and I was unable to return to Canada for over two years. We decided to forge ahead with the project because we had the best in the business - an amazing builder and an amazing design team at Sarah Gallop. Angela Neyman was my Interior Design Manager and was a joy to work with. Not only did she capture my vision for the layouts and design of each room almost bang on from the start, she also did everything long distance for me - picking out everything from paint colour, hardware, fixtures, wallpaper, fabrics to furnishing the house from top to bottom. Her drawings and specifications including mill working, electrical and lighting were meticulous. The entire house from top to bottom was communicated from two hemispheres by emails, photos, phone and zoom calls. I had to rely on Angela 100% for texture, feel, colour and comfort and she did it all with expertise and ease. In short, we would not have the beautiful home we have today if it was not for Angela and the incredible team of Sarah, Rob and Roz working together to make our dream a reality. I can't recommend Sarah Gallop Design Inc highly enough for any current or future home owner thinking of building or renovating - you will be in excellent hands! Lauren Thomas

When the time came that we were ready to build our dream retirement home on the lake in Summerland, we had a clear vision for the style of home that we wanted, but we really needed a designer who could help us to bring that to reality. What we wanted was a new house that felt like it had been around for many years – a home with character, and we got that! Our favourite aspects of the design include our master bedroom with ceiling beam detail and large patio, and our ensuite with huge shower and free-standing tub, all looking out over the lake. Special personal touches were added; a ships ladder leading to the attic (I always wanted an attic that I could walk around and store things in) and the lighthouse newel post at the base of the staircase. We are thrilled with the cohesiveness of the design. We love the warm hardwood floors running throughout to connect the open spaces. The home’s natural color scheme is serene and in balance with the beach/lake area we live in. The details inside and out give this home its character. I loved everything about the experience of working with SGDI... The investment we made in hiring Sarah to help us with the house design sure paid off! We saved money on costly change orders – we had none – because we started construction with our design complete. It was SO helpful to have clear detailed plans and design documents to provide to our builder, given that we were building the house in Summerland while still living in Vancouver. From the start of the process, with the vision exercise and then the material sessions where each room design was laid out, I felt like Sarah and her team took what was in my head and made it a reality. It was very collaborative with Sarah being open to hearing our feedback and giving us options. We also feel that having the design complete allowed us to have our house built in a short 9 months, which is unheard of here in the Okanagan. Because all the decisions were made, sourcing and ordering the materials happened early, thereby eliminating any delays. Overall, it was a stress-free and fun experience. I would absolutely refer Sarah Gallop Design to anyone looking to build their house!!

When we were building our new home, our builder recommended Sarah Gallop and her team for the architecture and design part of the project. We were confident that we were in good hands after the first meeting with Rob and Sarah to discuss our lifestyle and vision for the new home. They were knowledgeable, professional and down to earth. Sarah captured all of our ideas and wish list, and designed a home that fits our family lifestyle. The team at SGDI worked closely with our builder throughout the build process and made the project quite smooth. The end result is a gorgeous and functional home which fits our family. We highly recommend Sarah and her team, in fact we already have recommended SGDI to some of our friends and will continue to do so. It has been such a pleasure working with SGDI!

This house, built in 1989, needed a bigger face job and this is what SGDI provided. The old vinyl siding, the rotting brick work was replaced, updated into a comfy stone and hardie home. An office disappeared and moved into what used to be a mostly unused dining room. I had doubts about the new office but that proved ridiculous. I love it. The kitchen and family room is cozy yet now, without that office, is so spacious. There is a roof extension off the family room now, and with new French doors, creates another cozy area even in cooler weather because of the heaters. I even have a tiny pantry nestled almost under the stairs leading to the second floor (no, I left upstairs alone), which is now used for all my kitchen appliances, and a coffee nook. Who knew that was space behind the walls waiting to be discovered. It was hard during renovations of course, but it is worth every uncomfortable minute. We had been following SGDI for quite some time and were impressed with all the beautiful homes that we had seen on their Instagram. When it came time for us to design our home, the choice we would make for an interior designer was a clear one. We were attracted to the Urban Farmhouse style of design, but we had a very precise level of sophistication that we wished to have applied throughout to elevate the style. Sarah and her team were able to interpret the very degree of formality that we desired and apply it throughout our house plans. The perfect amount of polish was placed in all the key areas and the resulting home is a place that we are just in love with and can’t wait to return to each and every day! Throughout the process of design, Sarah’s team took the countless ideas and thoughts bouncing around in our heads, sorted through them, and worked them into a perfect package which we handed off to our builder. They were able to get into our heads and help us design the very best version of what we truly wanted. SGDI worked so well with our builder; the communication was key to the beautiful outcome of this project. The house is a place that we can be proud to share with our friends – but also a place that absolutely functions for the way that we want to live and relax in it as a busy family. Some of our favourite features of the home include the high ceilings throughout – vaulted in every bedroom – with beam detailing that relaxes the more formal elements. The various featured millwork and wall paneling details throughout in high-contrast velvety tones. And, of course, our powder room is a visual treat for every guest to visit, with its emerald tile and jewel shaped mirror and pendants…. we are super excited that it is currently a Georgie Awards 2022 Finalist – Custom Home valued between $1,000,001- $1,500,000!

Sarah Gallop Design was recommended to us by friends who had worked with them. We were reconfiguring our kitchen layout so I wanted a professional opinion but I was hesitant about using a designer because I felt like I already had an aesthetic vision. Rob was great from the very beginning, he put my mind at ease about the level of collaboration, walked us through the process, and helped us get started. They took my ideas and were able to create a design that perfectly captured everything I wanted to do but even better than I imagined. We talked through the different kitchen configurations and they addressed every concern with practical recommendations. I always felt like they were receptive to modifications or adjustments. Selecting finishes and furnishings was a breeze because I never had to doubt my choices, I knew they would look great and work well in our design because of their expertise. When it came to the construction, Sarah and the team worked amazingly with our contractor Wes from Hoskins Homes. We were surprised that the whole process was actually enjoyable. It really helps to know you have a solid team and well defined plans. We were very happy with the final product and still love our new home. We would highly recommend Sarah and her team for any project. Sarah’s team has amazing expertise and an ability to turn your vision into a reality.

Heather ‘got me’ quickly and presented fixtures and looks that represented my style. We wanted to go with a local designer when we did our renovation and we are so happy we did. From our first meeting with Sarah and her team they were perfect. Great communication, and even their initial quote was bang on. They suggested we use another local builder, Kemp construction, and again it was a perfect fit for our project. I have personally recommended SGDI to friends and i will use them again for any future projects. From the moment we moved back in to our house it felt like a show home. I guess other thought the same as we became finalist for the Havana and Georgie awards. Good business. Great people. Amazing results.

We hired Sarah Gallop Design for the renovation of our home in Tsawwassen back in 2013, we had a great experience with that project and have watched the firm’s progression and growth ever since. Over the years we found their portfolio and their accomplishments impressive, so when the time came to build our new home it was a clear and sensible decision for us to hire Sarah again. This time we were building our forever home, in which to spend our retirement, on Okanagan lake. The house is a very modern style constructed into the slope of a steep waterfront lot, while not the simplest task, the design experience was smooth and enjoyable. SGDI completed both the architectural design and the interiors. Sarah’s team knows their stuff and was able to guide us through what could be achieved while working to get us just what we wanted aesthetically. Our home is everything that we wished for – it exudes elegance, but is so clean and simple, that it promotes the relaxation that we needed to bring to this phase of our lives. We just love it! Despite the distance, SGDI was the perfect choice for the complete design of our beautiful lakefront house. The design documents they delivered were precise enough for our local Okanagan builder to complete the home as designed without a lot of back and forth, and Sarah and her team were always available to assist as needed throughout the construction phase. The entire experience was seamless even with the construction being out of town for the design firm, so we would not only recommend SGDI to anyone looking to design their dream home, but especially if you need to be able to trust in your designer for an out-of-town project. Three years ago we decided to pursue building the perfect house for our family. After a long search we settled on a beautiful property on which to build our forever home. The existing house on this property did not suit our needs and so we decided that the best route to take would be to build a new house to realize exactly what we wanted for our family. At the recommendation of our builder we met with Sarah Gallop and quickly determined that she and her team would be a great fit to bring the vision of our future home to life. We found SGDI's design services to be extremely attentive, professional, and SGDI worked closely with us to sort out every detail we had envisioned for our new home. We also found Sarah and her Team to be highly engaged with our vision, and they worked patiently to incorporate all of our desires into the final plan. We appreciated how knowledgeable the entire team was and how they put their best effort into designing our new home to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted. Their passion for client satisfaction through design is apparent! Having lived in our new home for a while now, we love how it functional our fabulous new home is. It is nearly impossible to choose a favorite space in this wonderful house, but if forced to choose the bar/rec room and main floor powder room are the front runners, but my wife has a definite soft spot for the Master Closet. The entire home is very well thought out, extremely functional and aesthetically it provides a wonderful backdrop to showcase family heirlooms that reflect our respective personalities and most treasured memories. This house is everything that we wanted it to be! Sarah’s team did a wonderful job of capturing the elements we wanted from the initial vision that we presented to them. Sarah and Robert Gallop have our highest recommendation. After a severe ski accident, our house needed urgent renovations to become wheelchair accessible. With in-depth insight and clear mastery of home design, Sarah guided us through with personal care and compassion as well as superb professional service. We were presented very good options along the way to choose from and our requests at each phase were understood and implemented. The communication was very healthy and definitely helped ease the stress and strain involved in doing a renovation at the same time as rehabilitation. The contractor and trades people also spoke so highly of Sarah and her work, which was reassuring for us too. We definitely plan to work with Robert and Sarah again.

This house is to be our second custom built home, so although we have built before, it was very important to us to get this last one done absolutely right. We first came across Sarah Gallop Design via the Houzz website when searching for home design inspirations and were impressed with the portfolio, we then discovered that she had designed several other homes right on our street, both completed and under construction at that time. So, we were able to see some of her work in real time and to hear some good things from neighbors. After our initial meeting with Sarah, we felt confident that she would be capable of helping us get what we were looking to achieve. The team at SGDI employs a methodical approach to their design process. They are truly experts in their field, proven by the level of quality documentation that was delivered. All drawings and design documents were perfectly detailed and organized in order to ensure that our home was built just as we wished it to be. The sheer amount of work and planning that went into this project is highly commendable. The design team was considerate, and paid attention to all of our requests,design details, and preferences, and they worked so well with our contractor and trades people. They remained patient while we took our time making what to us were the most important of decisions, while always steering the course to get the home completed in a timely and organized fashion. From our past experiences building houses, we understand the importance of detailed planning and having all the correctly prepared documents in place in order to get what you are wanting. So, based on our experience with Sarah Gallop Design, we would certainly recommend them to anyone who appreciates the attention to detail that this firm can offer. Sarah Gallop and her team were recommended by friends. We reviewed Sarah’s website and felt her team was the right fit for us. This was reinforced when we reached out to them. Rob Gallop was in touch with us right away to explain the initial process and answer our initial questions. Another team member then promptly reached out to us to begin the design process. Although we already had architectural plans done and a contractor retained for our from-the-ground-up renovation, Sarah’s team were invaluable in reformatting the construction plans to maximize functionality and to best achieve our design vision. When we met with Sarah’s team, they were incredibly well prepared and we loved everything they proposed. “We built our house 24 years ago and it was when talking to our children that they suggested we do a renovation on our house. We have a good sized south-facing lot with an in - ground pool on a quiet cull-de-sac, and despite a few small renovations over the years, we realized we were due for some changes. But, where to start? It was a good friend of ours who suggested Sarah Gallop, a local, award-winning designer. We didn’t even look any further, as we heard back from Rob Gallop immediately after our first tentative contact. Our initial ideas were expanded upon into a much larger scope, making our project a full house renovation after discovering our radiant floor heating on both floors was done with Poly B piping and we would inevitably spring a leak at any time. Also, our last-forever tile roof was losing integrity and needed to be replaced as well. Not only did Sarah’s team take all our added issues into account, they were melded beautifully into the design. We went with a metal roof that added a whole new great look to the outside of our house, along with beautiful natural rock work both inside and out. Sarah chose the contractor for us and worked closely with them as well as us to bring all our wishes into fruition. This was especially helpful, as we were traveling a great deal during that time, and Sarah was able to handle any issues that arose on our behalf. We moved several walls, added a covered patio area with speakers, heaters, and lights, beautiful ceiling and wall trims and the walk-in closet of my dreams. Sarah and her team followed us from the first stage of design and permits, through to completion with excellent attention to detail, including choosing the perfect furniture for our new open concept living room, dining room and kitchen space. And the results are simply stunning! We have virtually a new home from top to bottom, inside and out and we LOVE it! SGDI came as a referral from our contractor who was undertaking the restorative renovation of our home following a flood. When seeking a designer, we were most concerned with finding a great fit for the working relationship. This was our very first renovation, and we were aware that its size would likely pose many challenges along the way; with us being green to the renovation experience, we thought it especially important that we picked someone who could really the take lead and help us through it. As we are both very busy professionally, we didn't have the time to play general contractor to this project. A designer who could make the home look and feel the way we desired, without us having to worry about it, was the key! We found that in working with Sarah Gallop. We had met with 3 different design firms, who were all reputable with great portfolios, but we found our fit with Sarah; someone we could trust, and who was able to stay on the same page and work well with our contractor. As we went through the design process, we found ourselves in sync with SGDI and thus giving up control and trusting the recommendations from Sarah & her team became easier. As the project progressed, we had complete confidence that the design team was making sure that the house would be perfect for us. This made the working relationship a very pleasant one, and the house turned out as beautiful as it did with a design that flows throughout the way that SGDI intended. We are very happy with our finished home. We highly recommend that if you are taking on a renovation, you work with Sarah Gallop Design Inc.

We came to Sarah and the SGDI team for help with the interior design for our custom west coast modern home. We had architectural plans already but knew that there was more design work to do for the finishing details. We met with Sarah and brought our plans. She immediately impressed us with her vision and ability to quickly offer fantastic solutions to the design challenges that we had been struggling with. We had interviewed other designers but they were reluctant to even look at our plans in the initial meeting for fear of giving away design advice for free. Sarah’s confidence and her design savvy was very evident from the first five minutes of meeting her and we knew we were going to choose SGDI. Sarah’s team helped us choose the design finishings and made our work easy by vetting a few samples for each space for us to choose. During the construction, Sarah’s building experience really helped when we had questions about our specific design and the building regulations in our city. We found that the design specification package that SGDI delivered, with all the millwork, lighting, plumbing, flooring and wall finishing specifications really helped to develop a budget with our builder. Her level of professionalism, ability to match materials, tiles, carpet, wall color, hardware, trim details ect. to what I call a provided bible document that all trades reference, is not only incredible but combine to make your new build or renovation run smoothly and look out of this world! We hired Sarah Gallop Design for the complete Architectural and Interior design of our family home. We are happy that we got in touch with her right at the start of the process because we found that Sarah’s input was paramount in getting this house from the stage of just ideas of what we wanted to the resulting completed home. We wanted this home to be beautiful forever, as it would be our long-term residence and family estate, just any old ‘already been done’ house design would not work for us. We wanted something completely unique, both architecturally and for the interiors, and that is what we got! We trusted Sarah’s choices, and relied on her heavily throughout the construction, not proceeding with any onsite changes without her input. She gave us exactly what we wanted, but was also not shy to tell us if we were doing something she felt would not work- which I greatly appreciate as we had some battles. We cannot say enough positive things about Sarah Gallop and her design team! The first time I called, I simply wanted to get an idea of what the design and build process might entail. Rob Gallop the took the time to walk me through the entire process, answered all my questions and sent me detailed emails. This was even before we had even officially hired them! When we met with Sarah, she took the time to listen to what we wanted and seemed to understand what we wanted our finished home to look and feel like- and the final product was everything we wanted and more! Not only did she help us choose amazing finishes, she designed a home in which we actually USE every space. We recently completed our home renovation project and are thrilled with the results! Sarah and her team (kudos to Stephanie) did an excellent job so we wanted to share our experience. We met Sarah and Rob Gallop many years ago at a renovation seminar. At that time, we had talked to a number of companies and found ourselves a little overwhelmed with the options and magnitude of the project so we paused to think about our renovation. While at the Home & Garden Show we came across SGDI again and decided we really liked the process of ‘design first’ – it is after all the logical first step – then tender out the documents for quoting as we liked. We appreciated their unique business model where you could 'step on, step off' at any of the key stages of designing and executing a major renovation with them and that they were very transparent and clear about the stages, the services and role they could / would take. We were much more comfortable with hiring them (as a design firm) separately from the general contractor as would have been the case with a design/build firm. We decided to pursue our whole-home renovation with SGDI over the many other options out there and we were excited to start our renovation planning again. They are very thorough, involved in every stage of design. The process was detailed and navigated in such a way that it was quite enjoyable. The end product is a completely renewed home in a neighbourhood we really wanted to stay in. We had initially identified the need for professional design assistance when we were looking at gutting our master bathroom and doubling the size by taking down walls and expanding into the adjoining walk-in closet. Stephanie worked with us on several layouts until it met all of our specific needs and achieved the best utilization of the space. We've been using it for a bit now and it works perfectly -- functional and beautiful. We love how every nook and cranny of space is utilized; our home is not large, so the extra storage we were able to achieve in surprising spaces, like drawers under the staircase and extra bathroom cabinets built between wall studs, make a big difference to our life! From changing the layout, to the finishes and fixtures, it exceeded our expectations. The great thing about working with SGDI is that we were involved as much as we wanted to be, when we wanted to be and feel like the end product is very much our vision. They were flexible and responsive from start to finish. Rob recommended a few contractors to for us to get quotes from using the exact same drawings and spec documents (all fixtures, finishes, appliances etc.). We can't convey how incredibly important it was to the success of the renovation to have thorough drawings and detailed specs – from the tender process, to communication (between us, the contractor, the subs and the designer) and ultimately to the quality execution. We ended up with a great general contractor and SGDI remained involved throughout key points in construction, everyone working as a coordinated team to implement the design as it was intended and trouble shoot where changes were needed – as is inevitable in a major renovation. An excellent process with a great group of people! The upfront investment in professional services with SGDI was worth it to get the results we wanted. If we are ever in need of another renovation we would hire them (and our contractor) in a heartbeat and recommend them for others.

SGDI and Sarah in particular did an admirable job of interpreting the brief for our kitchen/powder room/family room/laundry renovation. We asked for a functional, light and fresh new look for most of the ground floor of our 30 year old house and SGDI delivered in spades. We could never have envisioned beforehand how space could be opened up, plumbing and electrical could be refigured and storage space could be created. SGDI are masters at detail - things we would have overlooked or got wrong on our own, they took care of. Sarah and her team designed the interiors of my wife and I’s new home in Tsawwassen, and we could not speak more highly of them. We hired an architect who I have had a lot of experience with to get a great house plan started. SGDI took those plans and elevated them and transformed it into a showstopper of a home. She worked with our architect on small tweaks and it was a great collaborative process to ensure the house was ‘perfect’. Being a builder myself, I was very particular when it came to hiring a designer for my own home- I made sure I hired the best. I had worked with SGDI on a previous home I built for a client and was pleased with the outcome of that home as well as their attention to detail and advocacy for their client’s best interest. Our home was on the Home Builders Assoc. Parade of Homes this past summer and it was received amazingly which feels wonderfully by the public. If I built another home I would hire SGDI in a heartbeat and I would recommend them to anyone looking to build a house that they want to make sure they get right! We bought an old house several years ago with the idea of turning it into our dream home. The views were amazing and we loved the neighborhood. We realized early on that our initial thoughts of a fairly straightforward reno would not do the house or the property justice and we committed ourselves mentally to a substantial re-build. My wife spent many hours on houzz looking at different designs and different designers. After careful consideration she chose Sarah Gallop because she loved the style of her projects. Another thing that attracted us to Sarah was the fact that she had extensive design and architectural experience. Fast forward 2 years and we absolutely love what Sarah did for us! She listened to all of our thoughts about creating open space and flow with clean lines and a modern but comfortable feel. She absolutely maximized space and the extensive sight lines. She gave us great direction and guidance on materials, colours, fixtures, rock features, lighting and everything that goes into making a house really stand out. We could never have achieved our dreams without Sarah's extensive guidance and expertise. Our house is now up for 2 Georgie awards and everyone that visits us is wowed. My wife and I intended to build a custom home and did a lot of due diligence to make sure it would be the right decision for us. We used Houzz to get ideas for what we wanted the interior/exterior to look like in order to determine a reasonable budget. This is how we found SGDI as we loved their work. I reached out and corresponded with Rob who provided a lot of upfront information to help us with the budget and timing. He then coordinated a meeting with himself and Sarah after-hours to accommodate the schedule of my wife and I. The meeting with Sarah was very informative. Her experience became obvious right away when she knew the exact zoning requirements of the neighbourhood we were looking at. We felt like she was very upfront and honest with all aspects of the building and design process, giving us helpful feedback for how best to find the right builder and keep them accountable. We left the meeting convinced that SGDI was the right fit for us. We asked for a few references, all of which set up calls with us almost immediately and provided a lot of valuable information not only about working with SGDI (which all were very positive) but also about their building experience. It was clear that Sarah was working with great people and providing them with an excellent service. In the end, my wife and I found our dream home that was already built so we didn’t need to hire SGDI but we had such a positive upfront experience with them that I felt it was worth sharing with others who are considering a first time build. After almost 2 years of searching we found the perfect location. A spectacular south facing, 180 degree view of Port Moody’s inlet and close to everything we wanted. The house on the other hand, not so perfect. That’s where Sarah Gallop (SGDI) and her team came in and took over. Being a bit apprehensive at first, having had a not so pleasant experience with another design firm on another project one year earlier, Sarah reassured us that this home renovation and design process would be a very different process than what we had experienced before. She reassured us that WE were part of the process the whole way through. Sarah & Natalie sat with us, they patiently listened to us, they gathered our thoughts and created a truly magical space. A simply stunning home from which we never want to leave. They helped us capture the view from ever corner while managing to keep our home, open, inviting and warm. When the time came for us to renovate the home that we had built 24 years ago, we had to find a designer who could deliver what we needed for how our lives at home have changed, while honoring the original home that we have loved living in. Sarah Gallop Design Inc. came highly recommended by our builder Grenor Homes, and we could not be happier with the way that our home has evolved. The renovation changed almost the entire interior of the home, including the removal of the wall between the kitchen and formal dining room to create an open-concept. A bigger brighter kitchen, with loads of working space, was achieved and comfortable seating around our new island. The kitchen also has many convenient features, deep drawers for storing pots and pans below the range, and custom-built utensil trays, that make it very comfortable to work in, even clean-up is a breeze. We replaced a cramped corner bar with an exquisite dark wood show-stopping bar with wine fridge panelled into the rich custom millwork. This wonderful crowning element is a favourite in the refreshed home! The experience of working with Sarah and her team was enjoyable all the way through, and they kept in constant communication with our Builder whenever questions arose. New life has been brought to our home, and we are thrilled to enjoy the coming years in our ‘new home’ in the neighbourhood that we loved for so many years! Sarah and her team helped us renovate our main floor in its entirety with a new open concept kitchen, living and dining area, two bathrooms and laundry room. Sarah worked hard to understand our style, space, artwork and desire for something that was modern and unique. Sarah and Karen Yau created detailed designs that allowed us to exactly imagine the final product and made the choice of fixtures, tiles and finishings easy. When issues cropped up, they were fast to respond and they worked incredibly well with our builder, Smithwood Builders (who we would also recommend), to bring the vision to reality. The end product exceeded our expectations. The quality, colours, function and flow of the space is perfect for our life and entertaining friends and family. I feel like I am living in a brand new house and love every detail, from the navy blue doors to the laundry room, which Sarah recommended we add to the design.

SGDI did a wonderful job creating a beautiful family home for us that we will enjoy for years to come. We started working with Sarah from the start. She reworked our first set of drawing making the layout of our house functional for our large family. We then worked through the layout of each room, materials and furniture selection. We are busy parents with little time to spend at different stores selecting materials. Within a couple meetings at SGDI studio we had our flooring, lighting, paint colours, countertops, tiles, and more picked for our house, with little stress. We love all of our selections! They are beautiful and original. They put together documents that made it easy for our building contractor and trades to build our dream home and they were always available when questions arose. Working with Sarah Gallop and her design team at SGDI was professional and stress-free from beginning to the end. Our renovation was a design and build of our whole main floor including the master suite. Sarah and her team, working with Jim Smith of Smithwood Builders, were a terrific team to work with and we are more than pleased with both the process and the result. We had hoped for an open concept, a new white kitchen with an island, a large spa-like master ensuite a large master closet, a fireplace that did not block our view and a design that pulled together the whole floor so it flowed from one area to another. Wow! The design was amazing and the process so professional. Sarah maximized the use of space in ways we had not even considered. Our home now flows seamlessly and yet we still have defined areas and space. We have a relocated fireplace, custom millwork for the living, dining, and kitchen, and a beautiful master suite. When we stand at our gorgeous kitchen island we can not only see our magnificent view and the deck, we can speak with all our family and guests. Throughout the design process Sarah and her team made it easy for us. They listened to our needs and what we liked then gave us a small number of options to choose from that all fit together. We also had Sarah help us with furniture so it fit our new open concept design. We were impressed that Sarah dropped by when we were struggling with little decisions in the midst of construction, that SGDI would order and hand deliver some items, or make sure they were brought in while we were away. We had heard about renovation horror stories but with SGDI you have no worries. SGDI’s construction drawings were excellent. Sarah is knowledgeable about construction and works with builders that she trusts and they trust her. The communication from design to build and back to homeowner ensures the process is as smooth as possible and design elements are adjusted as necessary throughout the build. We highly recommend SGDI to anyone considering a renovation. You are hiring a professional design team with an excellent track record, relationships with suppliers, and solid contractor connections. "Sarah Gallop Design had done an exceptional job on our newly renovated home. Our basement was completely gutted except for the bedrooms upstairs. Sarah has a great vision for functionality, the flow of traffic to aid the ease of moving things around (loading/unloading groceries), and a design that meets the needs of everyone in our family. We were so impressed by Sarah’s very first walk-through our home with us to give us an estimate and a tentative plan of the design. Just from that first walk, Sarah came up with many brilliant ideas of how the door from the garage should be connected to the stairs up to the kitchen for loading/unloading groceries purposes, and how the flow of our lower floor should be from the garage to the laundry, to the two bedrooms, and office space. Her vision was crystal clear and functional. Her designs were so thorough and functional. She is a great problem detector and solver in term of a home layout. Not many designers can visualize the way she could. The suggestion to move our side stairs to the front deck is a good example. The extended size of the master bedroom bathroom, and the knocking down of walls were something that make the entire home cozy, visual pleasing, and family connecting. The size of each room was carefully planned to accommodate our family’s needs, like a queen bed, a work corner, a dresser, and other needs. Her suggestions to relocate the hot water tank and the furnace were so brilliant. It makes the entire lower floor very tidy, uncluttered, and nothing in the way of the traffic flow. Last but not least, Sarah and Stephanie were so willing to jump in and assisting us in any communication difficulty with the contractor from the most trivial issues to a major change or a new design suggestion. Her responses were prompt, straight to the point, and she stays clear on our side (not the contractor's side). It renders us peace of mind and stress-free. Her ongoing support was outstanding and we could not be happier to have a designer on our side to help us with all the material selections, and monitor the work done every step of the way. We have had a terrible experience before with a design/build company and we definitely will never head down that path again. There are many catches and traps to renovate your home with a Design/Built Company. Be extra careful. Overall we are so fortunate to come across Sarah Gallop Design firm on HOUZZ. It is a blessing to get to know Rob (very humble, cordial, and sincere), Sarah, and Stephanie (very organized, approachable, and detail-oriented) , and have them designed our home where we have come to love, and look forward to come home everyday after a long day of work. From early conversation with my husband and I about style and desires, Sarah and her team listened intently and asked all of the right questions to make sure that they gave us exactly what we wanted. They did not dictate what the house should be, but took the time to understand us and what we were trying to achieve. My husband and I had some very specific ideas and things we wanted to incorporate into our home. Our care for precision and detail allowed Sarah to execute an elevated design, resulting in a flawless home – the product of a perfect working match. Professional and confident in their approach and yet so calm amidst the seemingly endless amount of decisions, drawings, materials and details. Sarah and her team worked alongside us to ensure that all of these details were incorporated into the home seamlessly. They pushed us out of our comfort zone when we needed it, and reassured us when we were unsure or second guessing our decisions. I am not sure what this house would be if we had gone with another designer. I am sure it would be great, but it would not be THIS! Sarah, Rob and the SGDI team worked with us tirelessly over many months to create an exterior and interior that reflected our unique vision and kept true to the SGDI award winning style. The end product exceeded all of our expectations and validated the reason we selected SGDI in the first place....outstanding attention to detail, spot on classic yet innovative designs and a clean / crisp look. From our initial concepts all the way through the design process and into the build, they were right there, making sure our desires were translated into a great home. I can't thank the team enough for the consultation, advice and guidance even after the designs had been finalized. Any project of this magnitude has its challenges and I couldn't have asked for a better partner in our build process. Sarah and her team were amazing! We hired them at the outset of a significant home renovation which was completed in 2017; and they were able to guide us through right to completion in such an organized fashion. They took a dated old home and made it a modernized marvel. I never imagined that the style I wanted could be achieved in this house. Everything about our new space is fantastic, so thought out and perfect for us. The contractor we ended up hiring, Sarah actually knew, so we had great confidence in the construction of the project. Sarah was able to advise on how we could phase the renovation so that we did not have to leave our home while it was happening. We ended up completing the basement, which includes a kitchenette, so we could live downstairs before the rest of the home was renovated- which worked great for our family. Sarah’s team was also around during construction to make sure things went as planned and made any adjustments as needed... a wonderful experience with a caring design team on my side this whole journey, I could not have asked for more!

We hired SGDI to help us with the main floor renovation we had been thinking about for quite a while. They were our first call as we were not really sure how to go about the whole project. We ended up moving the kitchen around in our home and reconfiguring the main floor a bit. SGDI provided us with many options all great in their own way, and we decided to go with the one that best suited our needs and budget. The process was quite easy and so much simpler than it would have been without a talented design team guiding us. Sarah and Rob helped us find a very caring and capable contractor who was able to accurately quote and execute the construction. Our renovation is complete and the furniture has arrived and it is fantastic! Not only does it look great, everything about our main floor is more functional for our busy family. I have nothing but great things to say about the SGDI team. They quoted the Design costs for us before we hired them so we knew what we were getting into. They gave us a realistic cost range which they said they would hold to. In the end, They actually charged us less than the low end of the cost estimate, which was great. Trustworthy, meticulous and always working with our best interests in mind! Awesome!!

Our property is not a simple one and what we wanted was not easily achieved. Sarah and her team battled the city and many others on our behalf to ensure we got the perfect home. Pushing the permit through Delta was no easy task, but they were relentless and made sure we explored every option possible. At our first meeting Sarah gave us the good, bad and ugly of going through a renovation. I know that she was making sure that we were prepared for what was to follow, and it was great advice. Sarah gave us timeline expectations for design completion and knowing that we did not have any idea on builders – Sarah also offered to guide us towards someone that she felt would suit us. We were then presented with multiple floorplan options, based around budget and future further renovations. How Sarah re-imagined the space was incredible and while it looked great on the plans – now that it is complete; it is truly unbelievable. We gained a mudroom, a real entrance hallway, beautiful staircase, open concept kitchen/living/dining, a “gym”, and loads of new light across all spaces. Once we had decided on the final plan we then went in to SGDI and worked through the product selections to create the look and feel we wanted – that was really exciting and Teresa and I were very impressed with the selections and detail in how Sarah grouped the products together to get a “look and feel”. Sarah’s team took care of all the permits and all the technical drawings, so PSL could give us an accurate budget and completion time. The drawings gave PSL the detail on paint colors, showed exactly how the kitchen would look, down to the door handles and appliances. Even the exterior elevations were represented – incredibly detailed technical drawings. PSL construction was incredibly thoughtful in their planning. The worksite was incredibly clean; and anyone who came to see the progress was truly amazed that the floors were swept every day before they left! I cannot imagine ever doing any further work, or ever taking on another renovation without consulting Sarah first. Without Sarah and the SGDI team, we would not have the wonderful family home we now have; which has a “double story” feel – rather than a basement walkout. We have gained a lot more space, an open concept kitchen/living/dining and a fantastic flow to our home with loads of additional light. Sarah’s help in choosing PSL was spot on too – I cannot thank Aaron and his team enough for all their help and thoughtfulness. Thanks Sarah, Rob, Roz, Angela and the entire SGDI team!

Sarah and her team recently designed the renovation to my home in Tsawwassen, and the outcome is amazing! I had previously used Sarah to design my business facility, so it made sense for her to do my home. We considered a number of floorplan options early on for how we would change this home for me and my kids. Sarah was very creative on how I could transform the house, I never would have even considered some of the things she saw. After deciding on the right plan for the house, the process just went so smoothly. SGDI got the city permits approved and did all the technical drawings and product selections so that my builder could budget out accurately and build out the project exactly as planned. They did all the work for me and just let me do the fun stuff and approve the options- I appreciate how I didn’t have to run around and go to showrooms and waste any time. They are very efficient and respectful of their client’s time and therefore money. I am now moved back in with my family and loving we are loving the new space. Thanks Sarah and the SGDI team!

We set out to renovate our beach front home in its entirety; with a new open concept main floor kitchen, living and dining area, three bathrooms, and every wall, floor, light fixture, window and door. This was our first time using a designer and I was excited to have this experience. It was a great experience from the first walk through until the photo session at the end :) We enjoyed being a part of all the steps of the design process, especially showing up to the SDGI design room to view what materials the designers had selected for us. I enjoyed browsing Houzz and doing the look books to put my ideas in. Having them available to be viewed by SGDI helped with the selection process of the finishes, from doors to fireplaces to countertops etc. SGDI also assisted in recommending a great contractor to get our project built. Sarah and her team are knowledgeable, professional and always available, I would not hesitate to recommend them to others and already have. We love our updated house and are proud to show it off.

We started dreaming about a renovation to our small home near the beach a few years ago. We wanted to open things up and create a beach house feel. The design team quickly developed a concept with us that gave us more room and opened up the small inside room. With our busy schedule running around to suppliers for finishes would have been very time consuming but you don't do that with the Gallop process. We had access to all the finishes and materials in their office - no running around. The design team really understood us and working brought us colours, finishes and materials that we narrowed down easily. It's now really fun and rewarding to show our home to neighbours and friends - it's not uncommon for people to fall in love as soon as they come through the front doors. Last week - I could hear a very loud 'WOW' as someone came through the front door - asking if they could have the house for themselves. When I first met Sarah we were planning on just doing a small upgrade to our kitchen and a few other things around the house- it didn't really end up that way :). Sarah had so many great ideas that my husband and I quickly reconsidered and started the planning of a reno that revamped most of our home. We ended up relocating the stairs in the house and opened up a wall which gave us a view we never knew we could have from our kitchen. The kitchen, although it stayed in the same general area, was completely re-planned and is now so much more functional. The process was very methodical and left no questions or items undecided. It allowed us to stay in total control, but alleviated all of the hard work. With the drawings and all the material selections we knew exactly what we were getting and it gave us total piece of mind. SGDI even helped us find a contractor who did a fantastic job! From initial planning, through permits, construction and even helping with furniture at the end- everything was fantastic! Our experience with SGDI has been nothing but positive, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to renovate. We worked with Amber and Sarah on a kitchen and family room renovation which, as so many do, quickly turned into an entire first floor project. Amber was our main contact, and extremely knowledgeable in her own right, but she also checked regularly with Sarah on any issues that would benefit from a second opinion, and Sarah oversaw the project. They were a wonderful team. We were initially drawn to Sarah Gallop's design team because we loved her classically elegant style, and also wanted to support a local business. Our home is older, and there were some traditional parts of the home we wanted to keep, and others to modernize. Amber and Sarah helped us to preserve and enhance the character of the home, and give it a more updated look. They listened well to our concerns and offered creative suggestions, but also tried to include our ideas, letting us know if they thought they would not work successfully. Communication was excellent. When issues arose, they were dealt with promptly and efficiently. When we were nervous about a choice, they were available to look at it again, or reassure us that it would look fabulous. Any emails we sent were usually responded to the same day, which we greatly appreciated. Amber, Sarah and Rob also kept in close contact with our construction team, offering a wonderful partnership. They monitored every aspect of the project, and displayed excellent understanding of the process. They steered us towards quality products which we will appreciate for years to come. We felt very well supported when any difficulties arose, as they will do in all renovations. We both found Amber, Sarah and Rob easy to talk to and lovely to work with. Their professional attitude, as well as knowledge, experience and expertise inspired confidence and alleviated fears. Throughout the project their guidance and support were invaluable. We finished within the budget, and considered that hiring SGDI was money very well spent. We are so pleased with how our home now looks!

Their scope of work was the whole main floor of our house including kitchen, office, flooring, front door, fireplaces, powder room, staircase and furniture and drapery selection. We have had great value with our designers. They have listened to us, came up with a great open concept and helped us select all the material which fit with our style. In addition, they have been extremely valuable in providing support and dealing on our behalf with an extremely difficult contractor. Because of SGDI and their perseverance and dedication to our project, the quality of our project was finally where it was supposed to be. Sarah Gallop Design exceeded my husband's and my expectations for a modern kitchen this summer. We are most impressed with the quality tradespeople coming in and out of our home and their attention to the detail laid out in the design plans. The SGDI team measured very accurately and the whole kitchen fit into the plans beautifully. The quality of materials chosen was top notch and we know they will last for decades to come. It pays to use a local company when you have concerns and questions as the job goes along and someone always answered the door, emails and phone! The design costs came in under budget. When I walk around our neighbourhood I see many SGDI signs in front of homes. This is a testament to their great renovation ideas! A neighbour recommended Sarah to me and the rest is history. We were referred to SGDI by a realtor and we had also seen their beautiful work all over Houzz- so we decided to give them a call. The relationship started with the initial consultation where Sarah came to our house and blew our minds with possibilities and walked through our home giving us so much information on what we could /should/shouldn't do to our very dated family home. We were presented with a number of options for the new layout and she did an amazing job space planning the home for the needs of our growing family. Design is just about complete for our whole home inside/out renovation, and we are looking forward to starting construction in the next few months and we have the plan perfectly in place, no detail overlooked. The house will be unrecognizable when it is all said and done and we cannot wait to get started. Their fees were more than reasonable and worth every penny. They are a lovely team to work with, we have enjoyed every step- and they make it so easy and fun! We would refer SGDI in a heartbeat to friends and family, in fact we already have. If you are looking to reno or build a new home and want great design, and a company that truly cares- these are the people!

Just wanted to give some feedback from Sarah and co. We are building a new house in Vancouver and where else do I go to find a interior designer then houzz? I contacted a couple thru houzz, some of them emailed me back. I was most impressed by Sarah's projects, so much that we are taking alot of elements of it and incorporating it into our design. Rob followed up with my initial inquiry and was quite informative, at that stage of the contact we just submitted our plans to the city so we had plenty of time to finalize our interior plans and actual layout of the house. We met initially to kind of give them a idea of what we were going for as me and my wife like the transitional craftsman style and wanted something like that. Unfortunately our home is on a smaller lot and we couldn't quite pull off all that we wanted to but Sarah has helped us maximize our space and given us invaluable feedback regarding the planning of our built ins and room layouts. We sort of threw several curveballs during the plan submission process as we did do a thermal exclusion and our architect sort of screwed up our basement dimensions. We worked thru it and I felt what she charges is fair(although don't we all wish it was lower :P) We also had Sarah choose our furniture as well which we are in the process of placing the order. Some stuff was way off the mark which is natural since we didn't really talk about what we wanted before our furniture planning session. The only thing that I would have to say that is negative which isn't really a fault of hers is that some of the materials and furniture we wanted was discontinued. Thats partly due to the long submission and approval process of the city..and my slow builder ;) My builder gives Sarah top marks as well since he has been in constant contact with her in regards to the paneling, niches, built ins, drop ceilings etc. This was my our first home and me and my wife were debating on whether or not it was worth it to hire a designer...seriously sarah and co has made our lives much less stressful(besides the times when Rob sends out invoices to us) That designer discount is quite nifty too ;) We've recommended Sarah to friends, and wouldn't hesitate again to do so. Couple of more months to go and we can see what we have accomplished Oh yes forgot to add, not only do you get to deal with Sarah, but you get to deal with Rob as well, hes awesome and funny!

We used Sarah Gallop and her team for our large-scale home renovation in Vancouver. Sarah and the entire team completely understood our style and offered great home design and structure suggestions and solutions (which we needed many of with reno-ing a 100 year old home in Vancouver). Did not get the value from Sarah that I should have. The space planning was very basic and poorly laid out from what is currently there. She was hired to make it better not make it worse. The layout that was done for me seemed to be done by someone with little experience or creativity. What Gallop Design did was make spaces impractical and pointless. Paid $4000 to have drawings of the house and rooms labeled theatre room that was a storage room, the kitchen space moved around to make the spaces impractical and the master bedroom added a walk in closet. Allot of money with little time or effort put in. Going to move spaces around myself now as I think I can do a much better job and save $$$$. It is unfortunate as I wanted to hire an expert who was qualified and could come up with much better ideas than me which has not been the case in this situation. Will not pursue using Gallop with colours or fixtures as I think the same situation would happen and don't want to throw money in the air. Very nice people but no value or quality from what I experienced.

It is disappointing to hear that this client did not have a good experience with us, nor did they see the value that our company brings to the projects we design. This is a reaction that, until this client, I had not experienced in the 7 years I have had this business, nor in the 10 years I have been doing residential design.

The client hired us to design a full renovation to a 10,000sqft home. I met with them personally and walked through the entire home asking questions about what they were trying to accomplish, who was going to be living in the home, how they lived, what they liked etc. I explained the process to them in detail. I then prepared a Design Budget outlining the associated costs for design. They approved the costs, and then signed a Design Agreement authorizing us to start work on the project.

I then had 2 senior members of our design team measure and photograph the entire house, including flying drone footage of the large property. My senior architectural designer then drew up the as-built drawings and I personally did the space planning options for them based on my extensive notes from my meeting with them. I did 2 different options for the layouts/plans. Both involved significant changes to the floor plans, including reconfiguring the majority of the main floor, about 40% of the upper floor, and about 25% of the lower floor (plus repurposing other rooms where the spaces already existed) It also included items such as repositioning the kitchen which was discussed in the original consultation and the clients were very responsive to.

I booked a time to personally meet with the clients, Lucas (husband/review writer) confirmed the meeting time. I drove an hour to get to their house, when I arrived I was met by a landscaper who said he would get the client who was in the back – Lucas’s wife came out front and was surprised to see me and said she didn’t know I was coming. She then phoned her husband who was not around, and when she reached him he was not able to talk/even be part of the meeting via phone.

I asked if they would like to reschedule. She told me that no, it was probably better this way anyway as her husband would not be a big part of the layout/design decisions and the interior was up to her. We spent 1.5 hours reviewing/discussing the options to the plans, and walking thru the spaces to see how the new layout worked. I explained the rationale on how I had laid things out and how this related to how they indicated they wanted to use the spaces. She was very receptive to the plans and seemed quite excited about the project in general. She indicated a possible change she was thinking about to the mud room that included adding additional sqft to the house. At the end of the meeting she said she would show her husband the plans and they would provide feedback to me to make any changes they decided on.

3 weeks later I received an email from Lucas stating that he and his wife were ‘disappointed in what we came up with as far as the space planning. It seems spaces were planned with no real thought behind it and could have been thought of by anyone’. I replied to him asking if he would like to discuss the plans, and any specific areas he wanted to see changes made to. I told him that it was unfortunate that he was not at the meeting to review the plans as he would have had been part of the conversation and perhaps understood where the ideas had come from.

It was a month before I received a reply, at that time he again stated that there was no creativity put into the plans and that perhaps one of our office staff had done the plans. I replied and assured him that I had personally done this work, and certainly did put a lot of thought and effort into creating these spaces for him based on the needs of his family. He had attached some proposed plans that he had done himself which, in my opinion, did not add any function or value to the home in any way.

I’m not sure if the client’s needs/wants changed in the time between the consultation and the presentation of the space planning, if they did not understand the process, or if their expectations just did not line up with what we do, but I stand behind the work product and design that I did for them and do still strongly feel that it had the potential to work exceptionally well for the home and the family.

In any design we do for a homeowner there is discussion around the plans presented and generally revisions are made to truly customize to their needs. I feel that this client cheated themselves out of having a well planned house by skipping this step – not making time to keep the space planning meeting, and not being willing to provide specific feedback on the plans which could have allowed us to customize it even more to their needs.

They have indicated to me that they are now planning on continuing this project on their own, which I have strongly advised against. It is clear that the professional helping them will no longer be us - which is fine, but in order to do what they are planning they really should have guidance - as Lucas has said himself, he does not have the expertise to do this alone.

Although we came in with a vision, it was missing many of the cohesive and practical details that have made all the difference in the final product. We engaged Sarah Gallop in February 2014. We were extremely frustrated with our house designer and needed help. She was AMAZING! She was able to take all of our dreams and convert them onto paper. We were very worried about our budget because it was tight as we were a year late in beginning construction. She understood this and recommended ideas to fit. When we received our invoices they were always fair and were within the range she projected. We LOVE our house! Sarah designed so many areas of our house but two of my favourites are my kitchen and office. They are so well organized and functional. As someone who loves to entertain there is room for everyone and all my gadgets. Every single drawer, nook, and cranny has a purpose. It is a chef's dream. My office is similar - no ugly printers can be seen anywhere. Lastly, I am someone who loves the process of picking out items and I wanted to be part of all decisions. I was worried that I might struggle when working with a designer because I wasn't fully ready to had over all the decisions. Sarah understood my needs and was happy to provide me with choices and guide me in the right direction. We will forever be grateful to her for creating our dream home!

We hired SGDI early in the planning stage and had them review the architectural plans for our new waterfront home. Sarah has a very good eye for detail and worked with me to make a few design adjustments which resulted in a much more functional use of living space. Throughout the process the team was very efficient and made planning the interiors of the home quite easy, given our very busy work schedules. They were able to find us alternates, when necessary, which still gave us the same impact and level of finish we desired. We are constantly entertaining at our new home and it is so great to have such a well thought through space that not just looks great, but works! We first hired SGDI in October 2013 on a one hour consultation basis for the purpose of Sarah suggesting how we could update, in a modest and effective way, our home which had not had a major renovation since 1996.In particular the bathrooms needed a refresh, as did the draperies, and some rooms needed a finishing touch. The kitchen also was “under review” but not immediately. In that hour Sarah identified what could remain in the bathrooms and what would need replacing; ideas on finishing touches for a few rooms, wall coverings, suggested modifications to the kitchen, and a ball park figure for updating the bathrooms. In December 2013, we hired SGDI to design the updates for the three bathrooms, provide design ideas for the draperies and upholstery for the dining room chairs and living room toss cushions. One bathroom was gutted while two kept the existing millwork. Sinks, mirrors, lights, faucets, one tub and two toilets were replaced. Tile was replaced in one bathroom while the bathroom, that was totally gutted, got a new walk in tiled shower and walnut millwork. The position of the plumbing was unchanged .I was very pleased with the selection of materials as I had asked for a timeless and classic look that I would not tire of and that is what Shauna presented. Shauna has impeccable taste .The price for the project was what I had expected and was within the estimate Sarah first gave me. Due to contractor, sub trade and supply issues the project took 11 months before final completion instead of the estimated 4 to 6 weeks. Most things were done twice (install of sinks, plumbing, lights, draperies) and sometimes three times for the tile in one bathroom. One bathroom mirror was ordered and sent back 4 times before the fifth came that was not damaged. Throughout the process of reordering and sending items back, Rob had to deal with multiple items and suppliers. He was amazing throughout the entire time and continued to manage this ordeal to ensure we were satisfied. SGDI were responsible for the countertops and millwork in the bathroom renovation and there was no problem with these components. Because they are such an important feature in kitchens and I was so pleased with the material and product selections, we hired SGDI in April 2015 to design the kitchen. Sarah provided an estimate for the renovation and we remained within that estimate. As we had already had a major renovation in 1996, the layout was very functional as it was and appliances and plumbing remained in the same positions. Sarah redesigned a few lines to ‘clean it up” as again I asked for a simple and classic look. Shauna made the selection process very easy for paint, knobs, pulls, sinks, faucets, counters, etc. This renovation went very well and we are delighted with results as it gives the house a real lift. The materials and color selections for all projects have created harmony amongst the rooms. I highly recommend SGDI: Sarah is practical in her approach to design and seems to know immediately what is needed to make a space work; Shauna has a keen eye for color and proportion and took the guess work out product and color selection. Both Sarah and Shauna heard my preferences; Rob kept detailed accounts, readily responded to any invoice questions and ensured their level of excellence was maintained for the products purchased. We will enjoy our home for many years to come because of SGDI‘s contribution.

Her ideas were smart, fresh and made immediate impact with us. We knew that we had found the right person for the job. As most of the process was done while were out of the country, we really needed a company that we could rely on. Sarah's team was great at communicating with our contractor and with us, and making a challenging reno, into a pretty smooth process. Our finished home looks incredible. We hired Sarah Gallop to design our main floor reno. Our house had some very strange and useless areas and I was stumped on what to do with them.From the first set of drawings I was extremely impressed with her concept, every area had a purpose and was beautifully designed. I have been in the construction trade for over 25 years and was expecting that during the construction process I would have to make modifications to her designs and measurements because typically things will work on paper but not in reality. Every measurement and design feature fit and worked perfectly, I was truly impressed. Stephanie took over with the day to day design options and her vision and professionalism was great at no point did I feel like we were forgotten or my request for additional designs was a burden. Rob took care of ordering all the finishes and furniture, this was a great time saver and with their discounts it saved us money in the long run. We worked with Sarah Gallop and her team earlier this year on a major renovation to our main floor – kitchen, family room and powder room along with minor updates and new furniture for our dining and living rooms. This was the first time we had ever done a renovation of this magnitude and so we had a lot of concerns going into the process. We were comfortable with Sarah and Stephanie right from the first meeting. They listened to what we were hoping to achieve and made the process so much easier than if we had tried to do it ourselves – from ideas to drawings to permits, selection of the contractor right through to completion of the work and dealing with deficiencies. All of our questions and concerns were dealt with quickly and professionally. As with any major project, there are always challenges and changes as the work goes on - Stephanie was great in helping us work through any issues and provided a lot of alternate choices for us to choose from. At times the number of decisions was overwhelming – but Stephanie helped us work through them. We also had a major issue with one of the furniture companies and Stephanie and Rob were great in resolving the issue. We are extremely happy with our new main floor – Sarah, Stephanie and the rest of the team helped bring our thoughts to reality. We feel like we are living in a new home – in many ways even better than the one we thought we would end up with when we started. We have recommended Sarah Gallop Design to friends – and we are looking forward to working with them again on our upstairs bathrooms in 2016.

For all of you first time renovators out there, this review is for you!!We LOVED working with the Sarah Gallop Design team. Our designer was Stephanie (with Sarah always closely in the wings and Rob managing the money/ordering part) and she was great - more than great, AWESOME! She took my ragged scrapbook full of magazine pictures and scribbles, and turned our house into a showcase. Everyone who comes in our door now is amazed by the colour scheme, details, design and tradework. Here are some specifics: - We love colour and we got colour, but it threads throughout the house is such a calming and exciting way - We wanted to update our traditional 80s house with some art deco elements - and we got it! From the front door to custom stained glass in the kitchen, the look is classic - We made some changes along the way and they were so supportive and made great suggestions - We LOVED all the tradespeople. All of them were extremely professional, respectful and excellent craftsmen We are at the 'deficiencies' part of the project and I can honestly say that 99.9% of the work is done to our complete satisfaction. And we only started thinking about this last year! For a WHOLE HOME RENO we couldn't have asked for a better team. Thanks SGDI and New Vision!!

I hired Sarah and her team to design my custom home at the recommendation of my builder. When we started all we had was a lot with an old house and too many ideas in my head to sort though. Sarah was able to sift through my desires and needs and design the perfect home for me and my family. From the initial floor plan presentations to the final end product, the house is just amazing. The home is so beautifully put together from both an architectural and interiors perspective. SGDI did everything to make sure we were happy and we feel they cared about this house as much as they would have their own. We hired SGDI to design the renovation of our penthouse condo in Port Coquitlam which we bought with the intention to renovate. From the moment we met Sarah we knew she was the right designer for our project. We didn’t want to be overly involved and wanted a designer we could fully trust to bring our vision to life. We would like to thank Sarah and Shauna for turning our "if only we could" and "maybe someday" wishes into our dream home. Somehow using cutouts from magazines, photos of bathroom taps and tiles from various restaurants and hotels, and pages of ideas from Houzz, Sarah and Shauna designed our Grown Up Home. From the initial meeting to the final inspection, our renos were done efficiently, professionally, and as quickly as possible. The only room left unscathed was the laundry room. The entire project was done on time and on budget. Sitting in our new kitchen, it is difficult to believe this is the same room; it is absolutely beautiful. We had Sarah and her team design our addition renovation to our home that completed in 2013. Our addition consisted of a large new sunroom/multipurpose room and a beautiful outdoor covered patio. Our addition is amazing and blends beautifully with our existing home. We enjoy it year round and all of our friends and family are envious of it. The design was amazing. One thing that we also found invaluable was that Sarah and her team ensured we got good value when it came to hiring a contractor to do the work. We had one contractor that a friend recommended price our Reno and we consulted with Sarah to get her opinion. She told us quite honestly her opinion and had one of her usual contractors price it for us as well, as she thought the price was high. In the end we ended up going with her contact as they had a great reputation and their price ended up being better. It was overall a great process and have since consulted with Sarah on our exterior update and will use her for our upcoming master ensuite Reno. Highly recommended!

When we were looking to renovate our home my wife and I engaged Sarah Gallop design to help us with the design process. We had a modest home that no longer suited our needs and we wanted higher end finishes in a smaller home. Sarah Gallop understood our dilemma fully and helped us see the greater possibilities that included installing a floating staircase, relocating our kitchen, building a great room and making our house much more usable for our current lifestyle. We also included interesting items such as tank less water heater, an integrated lighting/music/security system and an outdoor living area and even a special area to store our kayaks and outdoor gear. After seeing all the horror stories on the television I was wondering what our experience would be like. The only way I can describe our experience was that we had complete and total peace of mind in every aspect of the renovation. Everyone was insightful, helpful and patient. After the work was performed, we were on the homebuilders tour of homes. We are now thinking of doing some exterior renovations as well. I have no hesitation giving the full 5 stars.

Sarah is the interior designer for the renovation of my house. The project involves a complete renovation of the 24-year old house and an addition of floor area to bring the total living space to about 6,000 sf. In our first meeting with Sarah, she impressed us with her vast experience in interior design and innovative ideas that helped us to visualize the potential of our house. While we only had vague ideas of what we wanted, Sarah helped us to visualize what types of design features would suit our lifestyle and preferences. She effectively transformed our dreams into concrete ideas and drawings. Sarah is attentive to our needs and wishes. At times when we ourselves are not certain of what is the best, she always gives her professional opinions to guide us along. There are occasions when our own ideas are out of step with current trends but Sarah will steer us back to the right direction. More importantly, Sarah gives us new ideas that have never crossed my minds. Her suggestions are both aesthetic and functional, such as a walk-in master closet, a huge island in the kitchen, high ceiling in stairs lobby, and a covered patio for outdoor entertainment. The end result is that we not only have a house custom built to meet the needs of all members in my family of three generations but also a trendy showcase both inside and out. Before we met Sarah, we would never have imagined that our house could be transformed into what we have now. Another big help from Sarah is in the choice of materials. She spends a lot of time to help us search for the right materials and always gives us a variety of samples to choose from. We appreciate her efforts in making sure that we get the best price for the materials that we want. Sarah has a great team to support her. Our project is handled efficiently with quick response time. It is also a pleasure to visit her office where we can get new ideas from the photos of her other design jobs and the vast amount of materials on display. Sarah and I met in 2012 when I began thinking about renovating my home. I had heard goods things about her, but had never worked with a residential designer before, so I was sceptical to say the least. I was impressed not only by her design ability, but also with her level of construction knowledge. I have heard that a lot of designers are good at making things pretty, but are not that great at understanding how things are actually built- Sarah is fantastic at both. As in any large renovation, there were unforeseen issues that popped up in construction, but Sarah and her team were able to troubleshoot and design on the fly to ensure that everything still worked out perfectly. I always joke that I only made 1 really important decision in my whole renovation, and that was hiring Sarah. I now consider the team at SGDI friends more than I consider them designers that I hired. I look forward to doing it again with the SGDI team and I recommend them to anyone and everyone I know without hesitation.

CCI Renovations

We have limited experience working with Sarah but have found that she (and by extension - her firm) is able to take our clients vision and turn it into a very comprehensive and understandable set of drawings and specifications. Those documents are very much a collaboration and are unique to each and every client and home. Their dealings with the client and with our team was entirely professional with a relaxed communication style that is totally welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend the Sarah Gallop Team for any design project.

Sarah was easy to talk to, very respectful of a difficult situation, and very professional. She was immediately able to point out some areas in the new home design that could be revised to provide a nicer finished look. I liked her "team" approach. I respected an admired her for getting back to me to ask for areas she may have improved upon in order to win the bid. In the end it was the property owner's decision between 2 designers. I would feel confident in hiring Sarah for my own home.

Sarah and her team helped us through the process of building our first house. They were so valuable and we couldn't have done it without them. They were always professional and timely and not to mention patient with my zillion questions and my last minute indecisive freak outs as a first time home builder. They also really respected our budget when it came to choosing finishings. If a suggestion was made to splurge a bit on one item there was always a follow up recommendation on where we could save a bit to stay on budget without compromising quality. Sarah and her team helped us from the inception of our new house, from input on architectural drawings, through to assistance with flooring, tiles, cabinetry, millwork, lighting, plumbing, and colour palette, and finally through to furniture selection. Sarah had the ability to listen to and interpret our ideas even when they probably were not that clear. She and her team gently guided us away when we were in retrospect about to make a mistake. She was flexible and open to ideas and changing courses if required. She has a great eye. I have no hesitation in recommending SGDI. It was money well-spent.

Sage Construction

Sarah Gallop and her team were in charge of the interior design for a client of ours on a new home completed at the beginning of 2013. It was the first time we have had the opportunity to work with Sarah and what a pleasure it was. Her design concepts captured our clients tasted perfectly and she was extremely effective in providing all the required information, details and sketches to execute the finishes of the project smoothly. Contacting Sarah about any questions we had through the procedure was easy and she alway had clear direction on even the smallest details. She was able to choose the perfect finishes within the budget allowances and availability of product to ensure the successful timely completion. This project finished on budget and under time. We engaged SGDI to renovate our very old and hideous bathroom on our main floor. We did not know what we wanted, but SGDI was able to give us great ideas which quickly let to us designing a very beautiful new space, We essentially went with everything they said, with very little involvement. They helped us find a contractor who completed the job quickly and painlessly. An overall great experience, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Sarah and Aimee did a wonderful job of assisting us with the selection of colours and materials for our kitchen, living room and powder room renovation. The results are gorgeous and the best part was that all the items they suggested were very mindful of our budget. Our only regret is that we did not engage them sooner to plan our entire renovation. After deciding that my condo needed some tender loving care to give it that "WOW" factor, and make it more like "me," I enlisted the help of Sarah Gallop Design. With very expensive taste, on a Kraft Dinner budget, Sarah has been very attentive, patient, and professional. She has been very organized, and been able to reign me in when all the fabric, colours, and designs become overwhelming. What I really appreciate about Sarah and her team is that she is able to take that perfect picture that I have in my head, and get it down on paper, something I've never been able to do! We are still currently working on the project, and have decided to break it down into more manageable projects, starting with the master bedroom. I'm excited to see what the end result looks like, but have the utmost faith that it will come out looking just like the perfect picture I have in my head. We met Sarah in March of 2012 for a complete renovation of our home that spanned over a year. Sarah was so amazing to work with! We enjoyed each meeting with her and got so much accomplished each time. She always had fantastic ideas and great choices and understood our vision from day 1. We did not have to go to one store to pick out any fixtures, handles, faucets, tile, etc. She brought it all to us and we absolutely love the final results! I am currently using Sara Gallop design for a whole house reno in British Columbia. Upon searching for a design firm who could provide architectural and interior I was immediately impressed with SGDI's fast response to my enquiry and subsequent follow up with their process and and costing model. I can't tell you how many firms are lax when it comes to follow up. I'm busy like we all are and knowing I don't have to ask twice is important to me. And I have never had to ask Sara or Stephanie twice for anything. Sara and Stephanie have redesigned the whole house. Finding useful ways to improve space and chosen colours and materials that fit my personality and my budget. In those choices where their first idea was not perfect, SDGI was fast to provide options and to keep it all tied together so I didn't go out on a limb and make any mistakes with my maverick shopping style. ONce the design was 90% and we needed to select a builder. I found two on my own and Sara then suggested a builder locally. Best Builders (real name) who have turned out to be outstanding. Together these two firms are building a home that will make the kids and I very happy for a long time. I have to say I could not be happier. SDGI is dedicated and so professional to deal with. I would recommend them to both family and friends.
