Simply Home Decorating delivers style and ease to busy families who want to make the most of their homes whether they are spacious modern new-builds, well-loved 1950’s gems or something in between. I’m Lori Steeves, Founder and Creative Director of Simply Home Decorating, a boutique Interior Design Firm based in North Vancouver, British Columbia. My passion is uncovering hidden potential, transforming clients’ homes into refined, collected and enduring spaces that they love. I believe in the magic of GREAT design, the beauty and ease that comes from every detail being carefully considered, and I strive to bring that to every project. Having moved many times over the years, I appreciate all that it takes to make a home. I’ve honed a creative process that starts with listening — hearing what you want, understanding what you need and using what I discover to create the perfect backdrop for your life. I understand that you can’t always keep food out of the family room and your dog off the sofa - because I live this reality daily - and that’s why we specialize in decorating and renovating liveable family friendly & pet friendly homes where you will be proud to host your family and friends. Having completed 11 personal home renovation projects in the past 20 years I have a heightened appreciation of what my clients’ are going through and I think that makes me a better, more sensitive designer. It almost feels awkward telling friends about our renovation experience and how great it was knowing that almost everyone else's experiences have come with frustrations and missed expectations. Lori and team provided full project management for a cross country move for us: from Ontario to a new Vancouver apartment. This included full interior design, trades' management, contents purchases (linens to furniture), set up and support. The team even met our moving truck! Lori's design sense on all measures kept 'place' in mind, as well as balanced form and function ~ we are thrilled with the outcome. Lori quickly understood our needs; offered tailored options and was confident in providing her opinions when an element was important for the overall aesthetic. Lori is a visionary and masters execution to the finest detail all at the same time. When she first met us to know more about who we are and how we live, she could right away envision how we could use the space in our kitchen and living room. Working with Lori and her team at Simply Home Decorating was a great experience. Lori listened to us; the design she came up with was both beautiful and practical for our family. Renovations can be stressful but working with Simply Home made the process much more pleasant. Simply Home's project management and their longstanding relationships with reliable trades meant we could relax, knowing that everything was taken care of. If an issue arose, the entire Simply Home team was quick to address it. They were excellent at communicating with us—we never felt like we didn't know what was going on. We hired Simply Home Decorating and used their "Design Discovery Session". This worked perfectly for us as we are able to execute the plan, but we first needed help coming up with the plan.... and that's where Lori really shone. Lori was very professional and great to work with, but most importantly, she's very creative and has a great eye for design. Picking furniture styles, fabric colours, patterns, wallpaper etc etc and making it all work harmoniously together takes a real pro and Lori definitely delivered. She gave us the tools to go and make the final selections and purchases, so it was a service well worth the cost. We certainly couldn't have ended up with such an amazing living room with her. I would certainly recommend Lori and Simply Home Decorating.
