Had a sun tunnel installed a couple years ago and recently noticed bugs in it. Called company to see how to remove cover toget them out. Was told it was a closed system and bugs shouldn’t get in at all! They sent a tech out who told me the tunnel wasn’t properly installed in the first place and he could only patch the holes with duct tape! The company refused to compensate me with even a nominal gift card. Niccole’s response was “that’s what a warranty is for.” So, basically the warranty allows techs to screw up with impunity.

We installed a 14” VELUX Rigid sun-tunnel into this customers home in the fall of 2016. The homeowner recently contacted us for directions on disassembling her interior trim ring for cleaning access. Once we learned there were bugs entering the sun-tunnel, we sent out one of our technicians for inspection.

Upon inspection, we found the tubing of the sun-tunnel to be dethatched at the joint within the attic space.

A number of parts are assembled during the installation, all of which are provided by the manufacturer (VELUX). This portion of the install is specifically noted in the below link on page 14 under diagram 21:

The tape provided simply did not adhere to the seams of the tubing as expected. We do not use any unapproved product, such as a basic duct tape, for our installations or repairs.

We corrected this defect under the warranty we provide our customers with their installations.

Skylight Specialists were highly recommended to us and we would agree withe recommendation. They replaced 4 skylights that had been damaged in a hail storm. They worked with us and our insurance company so that the project was almost entirely covered. They were professional, cleaned up after themselves and were very nice. The only glitch that we had was that the original company rep forgot to note that the skylights were supposed to be wood stained not white. When they were installed, I brought it to their attention and they apologized and offered to order new ones (that rep was no longer with them)but it would be another 4-6 weeks. We decided to leave them as is because we were having the room painted and had the painters take care of the 2-3 wide inch pieces that needed to be stained.

This company was quick, efficient, and professional! Our ceiling is 18 feet high and I had just remodeled the kitchen with new counters and cabinets and was worried about the old glass falling into the kitchen but no worries as the company handled this perfectly! With three large skylights I have enjoyed the light but NOT the hot sun....the company suggested a tinted skylight but I was hesitant ... We did the tinted skylight and it is MAGIC! So much cooler and still perfect lighting! A great company! Definitely USE this company!!

They did a terrific job, very professional and friendly. The skylights are wonderful and we've had several storms without a problem. The solar powered blinds are a great addition. They showed up on time, installed as promised and cleaned everything up.

Skylight Specialists installed two skylights for us shortly after moving into our house. The person that came out to do the estimate was very informative and professional. When the two guys came to install the skylights for us they were the same way plus more. They were so patient during the process of deciding exact placement. Their work was excellent and everything turned out great. It's a little frightening to have two big holes cut into your roof by 8 they were so great in explaining as they went and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Thanks so much!
