Stephanie Wascha was terrific to work with. We bought an older home on Whidbey Island that needed some major rehabilitation, A sunroom running the length of the house with a water view was structurally unsound and needed to come down. As did a huge carport off the sunroom. We wanted a design that would take full advantage of the view, be elegant and modern in its look, and respect/blend with the original home, and be practical to build. Stephanie accomplished all that. Stephanie has an extensive "intake" process that sets expectations for working together and effectively communicating during a project. She has a publication "Dear Homeowner, Please Take My Advice, Sincerely An Architect" . Using that process with Stephanie took some time, thoughtful time that resulted in a great design that worked beautifully to meet our goals. The time invested upfront gave the project clarity, and following it throughout the project helped overcome the inevitable challenges faced in remodeling an older home with suspect building history., Stephanie worked incredibly well with our contractor and engineer as well, effectively communicating and directing traffic as needed. She always made herself available and was a terrific resource whenever we ran into a challenge. All of our friends and visitors since the project was largely completed have admired the design, especially how it puts us in our view and blends seamlessly with the existing structure. Some misunderstandings and miscommunications are inevitable during the design iterations on a complex remodel. Stephanie guards against them by frequently checking to make sure she has incorporated each decision correctly. If you consult with Stephanie and she becomes excited by your project, hire her. You can't go wrong.

We engaged Wascha Studios to help us reconfigure part of our small house to create more functional space for our young family. Discussing our options with Stephanie in the early stages of the design process was incredibly helpful. With her guidance we were able get a handle on what our options were and then make an informed decision on what made the most sense from the standpoint of practicality, cost, and what would best meet our needs in the long-term. Throughout the design phase we appreciated her technical skills and knowledge of permitting nuances as well as her ability to educate us since this was our first time through the process. Stephanie was very conscious of our budget and was willing to work with us to whatever extent we felt we needed her. Fortunately, she was very responsive when we made choices on our own and then reached out to her for help in rectifying some of our mistakes! We are just wrapping up our project and are incredibly happy with the result. We would not hesitate to use Stephanie again or to recommend her to others.

Stephanie Washa is a very creative architect who is a very good listener and was able to understand my needs for a beautiful space that was unique and not a cookie cutter remodel. She gave me some initial great ideas to get my creative juices flowing which then put me on a path to successfully pick out finishes, fixtures, and important details such as trim and doors. All of those hard decisions got much easier as she helped me set the style for the space. Stephanie is not only a really good architect but a master at listening and helping her clients achieve stellar results that are over and above the ordinary. I highly recommend her!

Stephanie worked with us over a year and a half on multiple phases of our home remodel. She helped us with creating design, construction and permit drawings for our remodel and provided great ideas to maximize the spaces within our single family home in Seattle. This was the first time through a remodel of this scale for us and Stephanie did a great job of explaining concepts clearly, quickly sketching ideas for us to think about, and then turning our feedback into the final construction drawings. She was also very helpful in thinking about solutions to unanticipated issues that cropped up during the project. She worked well with our general contractor who we had selected separately. This was important as our general contractor and Stephanie had to work together a few times to resolve issues. Her strengths in our view are her ability to communicate clearly, come up with creative ideas, attention to design details and an easy going working style. We would definitely work with Stephanie again.

Stephanie and team helped with our main floor remodel including a new layout, kitchen and fireplace. This is the second project we've worked with Stephanie on and again we are very happy with the outcome. I feel like Stephanie does a great job of listening to what we want and comes up with creative solutions/plans for the space. Both times we selected designs that we hadn't even imagined. Stephanie was flexible and very good about sticking to our budget. Not only did she help us through the design phase, but also during and after construction.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Stephanie Wascha on a significant remodel in the View Ridge area of Seattle. The project was designed to be done in two phases. The first phase,which we were hired to do, involved completely gutting and remodeling the main floor and basement. The second phase, which will be undertaken sometime in the near future, will require the demolition of the second story, and then building an entirely new structure. What made this project challenging from a design standpoint was anticipating everything that needed to be completed in phase one so that during phase two we would not have to disturb any of the newly finished spaces on the main floor or in the basement. Stephanie did an excellent job of anticipating these needs. She also was easy to work with when unanticipated challenges occurred, working with my team to come up with cost-effective solutions for our clients. I have no hesitation recommending Stephanie! Washa Studios provided an excellent service for us. Our house deck was in bad shape and it had to be replaced. In addition, our house was built in 1976 and its deck was not conforming to the current building codes. Unfortunately, a new deck conforming to the current building codes would completely alter the façade of the house and affect its value. Stephanie went out of her way to find a solution that preserved the façade of the house and at same time satisfied the safety requirements of the current building codes. I think that the majority of the architects out there would not do the same.

I enthusiastically recommend the work of Wascha Studios. I hired Stephanie and her team to design and oversee the remodeling of a condominium in downtown Seattle. Stephanie was a pleasure to work with. She is exceedingly creative with the use of space and materials. The project entailed replacing the flooring throughout the unit, removing walls, moving doors, revising all the electronics and lighting and upgrading the finishes. I wanted to make the condo a little more loft-like so Stephanie suggested the use of metal and concrete finishing. Throughout the project Stephanie worked closely with the contractor to make sure the project stayed within budget and on time. She communicated with me regularly on the progress and was quick to suggest solutions to any problems that cropped up. I couldn't be happier with the results.
