We've teamed up with Tom Vermeland on various projects over the past years and have enjoyed each and every project we've worked on together. Tom designed a new kitchen addition for us. He drew four different additiion options. We chose the design that suited us best. Tom worked with the contractor and gave us a fabulous kitchen. Several years later we decided to add on a master bedroom suite. Because of Tom's previous work, we had no hesitation in calling him again. He worked with us and the contractor to create a beautiful master suite. Our home does not look like we have had two massive additions; the additions were seamlessly incorporated into our forty year old home. Tom was easy to work with, always incorporated our ideas with his, generated computerized views at every meeting and gave us updated modern trends we were looking for in our new additions. We again are considering another remodel to our home and have no hesitation in hiring Tom again as our architect.

Tom is a great listener. We had no idea what we wanted with respect to style, but we had some very specific wants in the project, and Tom heard us and met those needs and gave us great style as well. We were very concerned that our tear down-rebuild project would look out of place in our neighborhood, but he made our house look like it belonged in the neighborhood. Tom was always stopping by the site to make sure the contractor was following his plans. Tom had many special construction details for the contractor to follow like for the staircase, fireplace, electrical plan, exterior soffits and walls. Tom also carried throughout the house the design elements. When we were completely at a loss about lighting fixtures, Tom took it upon himself to select them (caring about every detail and the quality of the light that we wanted), order them, and deliver them. Tom also took great care in designing an art glass window for us--and then found an artist who could make the window. It is a perfect complement to our house. We worked with Tom for about one year on this project, and he was always responsive and concerned about the quality of the construction as well. We feel very comfortable recommending him, and he always tried to keep costs down; also, his services were fairly priced.

Tom designed a kitchen remodel of a cookie cutter builder home for my growing family. The new space became the heart of the home because of the way Tom listened to our requests and considered the characteristics of the space we were gutting from. The new kitchen had smartly place cabinets, windows, and seating. We especially appreciated Tom's pragmatic ability to utilize standard sized cabinets in our crazy space and his recommendations for mixing materials---in our case mahogany and granite.

Our goal was to purchase a not so expensive, existing house that required remodeling and then put our resources into creating a home that met our special needs. Tom worked with us from the beginning, listening to our goals and ideas. He even came out with us to evaluate prospective purchases. Once purchased, he showed us multiple concept drawings from which we were able to develop a completely rebuilt home that continues to give us that special feeling you get from being in a space you love. Tom helped us with minutia and big decisions, from paint colors, window options and design, to construction materials. He was conscientious with regard to our budget, presenting us with drawings and guidance for parts of the project that we wanted to do ourselves. He proved to be a creative problem solver. He was able to smoothly navigate the issues that arose in our reconstruction process. Throughout our complete redesign and rebuilding project, Tom was there. He gave us great work for a very fair price.
