Creating and nurturing beautiful gardens. David Male is a London based garden designer and gardener who has been creating and nurturing gardens professionally for 21 years. In 2021 one of his gardens won a BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) principle award. With an imaginative yet practical use of space, combined with extensive plant knowledge, David works closely with his clients to produce gardens that not only reflect their requirements and personal taste, but also have a sense of harmony with their home and setting. Existing gardens can also be restored to their former glory, or adapted to meet new requirements. David will help you through every stage of creating your new garden: starting off with listening to you to really understand exactly what you want from your garden and a sense of your style, then providing initial mood boards to capture the essence of your brief, followed by detailed layout plans, technical drawings for the landscaper and specific planting plans - giving you the confidence that every aspect of the garden has been considered in detail. David has a long-standing relationship with a number of highly skilled landscaping teams who he is happy to recommend for the building of the project. He will monitor the construction from start to finish, ensuring the project remains true to the original brief. Once the construction is complete the sourcing of plants and the planting can be carried out by David and his team. The building and planting phases are really only the first part of creating your beautiful garden. How the garden is maintained in subsequent years is just as important to its long term health and success. David can make return visits to discuss the development of the garden with you, to give gardening lessons and to advise on edits and changes to respond to the march of time. A qualified gardener can also be on hand to keep your garden looking beautiful all through the year. David believes passionately in the definition of horticulture as being the ART, the SCIENCE and the CRAFT of gardening. Having an understanding of the way in which plants live and grow enables him to produce planting schemes that are not only beautiful in terms of colour, texture and composition but also constitute the right plant in the right place. The continuing craft of making the garden flourish is also based on sound experience.
