Live Edge Exotics

It was with much pleasure that Live Edge Exotics was established from a cherished hobby of using large slabs of beautiful exotic trees from around the world to create pieces of furniture to be enjoyed for many generations. Through various contacts, Live Edge Exotics has the ability to acquire beautiful woods from virtually every continent. Often the slabs come from very old trees which have died and had their moisture content reduced to furniture levels naturally. If not, the slabs, when cut, are placed in kilns to dry before being used. Some of our most beautiful pieces come from Africa, South America, Central America, and Asia. There are also a number of gorgeous types of woods from North America. While Live Edge Exotics can obtain any type of wood that is available (special requests are encouraged), we tend to use some 12 to 15 species because of their natural qualities (density, hardness, beauty, shape, color and quality). There are often several varieties within one specie with easily discernible differences. We focus on not just various species, but the most beautiful and desirable varieties within them. This results in the creation of an astonishing table, desk or living accessory, of which our clients and their guests have never seen. In essence, our multi-generational pieces are often described as having a rich, classic 'WOW!' factor, resulting in awestruck compliments, followed by inquisitive discussion.
