“I am a building designer and I have been working with Mike Abell and City Structural on multiple residential renovation projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. City Structural was recommended to me by a friend for a house expansion project. True to his reputation as an exceptionally talented engineer, Mike was able to develop an optimal structural design that respected the existing house framing and proposed minimal interventions so we can reduce the projected construction cost significantly. Our latest project together is a new 3-story house in San Francisco, where he designed a clever engineering system without any adjustments required to the complex architectural design. The engineering system for this project works without steel despite the unconventional architecture with pulled or pushed volumes varying on each level and along all three facades visible from the street. Here are some of the highlights of my experience working with City Structural:
