“We renovated an old smallholding cottage in Cornwall last year. The property is 1800's granite construction, and has small north facing windows to the front. At the rear of the property we replaced an old flat roof timber sunroom, and needed to find a solution to replacing it while maximising the light into the interior of the house. The space between the top of the ground floor windows and the 1st floor windowsills was very limited, so it was a challenge to find a solution that worked well. We opted for a orangery style roof lantern. The David Salisbury designed everything for us, as the engineering was quite tricky due to the construction of the original building and the limited space available. The project went without a hitch, everything was designed and delivered according to schedule, and fitted very professionally. Everyone who visits the house comments on the kitchen roof lantern, and we get lots of appreaciation for the wooden construction, it really complements the house.”

“After deciding to replace our shabby timber and corrugated plastic veranda, we embarked on the search for a modern and stylish replacement. After meeting with many of the major suppliers reps, most extolling the virtues of precision German engineered systems with eye watering prices, we were on the verge of giving up. Then we chanced upon Whidown Design. David came to see us and after a thorough assessment of our requirements put together a quotation for both a veranda and glass balustrade. The price was fair and very competitive in comparison to the others we'd had. We went ahead and a few weeks after David and his foreman had undertaken a full site survey, the fitters were on site and the veranda was completed efficiently over 3 days. A month later the team were back and the balustrade installed.
We are delighted with the end product. David and his team were a pleasure to deal with and very consultative during the process. The work was completed to a high standard and the fitters who came to site were reliable, hard working and accommodating.
I'd have no hesitation recommending Whidown Design to anyone undertaking a similar project.”

“This company produced what I can only describe as a work of art. We required an attractive shed to stand in small courtyard and lighten a dark corner where plants would not thrive. It was painted in a lovely pale green to match the colour of F&B painted cabinets in our kitchen. The leadwork was scalloped to match our kitchen door canopy. Being handmade they adapted their designs to suit us which is rare and unavailable when buying mass produced products. It was delivered on time and finished off in situ. It was a pleasure to deal with real craftsmen who were also lovely people.
It is worth every penny we paid and will look special for many years.”

They created a super space to work in at the bottom of the garden where we can escape to work from home or just relax and read. I found them to be reliable and professional whilst also friendly and reassuring. Extra touches were discussed and agreed upon as the work progressed - for example wifi connection and additional lighting switches.
