Just a few years after setting up their own office, the young architect duo Julie De Keere and Mathieu Luyens can already boast a number of impressive realisations at home and abroad. Some of this success is undoubtedly due to the way in which they are able to create a fascinating blend of contemporary architecture with a warm gentle feel. As creative partners they set the bar very high and bounce their ideas off of each other until they are both fully satisfied. The result is a thorough elaboration that exudes a high level of inner tranquillity, while sophisticated details and well-considered decoration create an instant feel of intimacy. No chilly emptiness, but airy curtains that filter the light and carpets that subtly define different zones. The use of rough stone or weathered wood adds a lively touch.
