I think I now know why her desire to have all boys 🤪 she’s very practical and business oriented as she states “we all have different jobs to do and this is what makes the world go round”

Thank you Lia. She’s actually quite unbelievable lol not more than 5 foot two and probably 115 pounds soaking wet. She just learns how to do it and goes? She did say that she is going to start lifting some weights because trying to close the door on the back of the dumpster. She is literally swinging from it 🤪. I tend to worry about her at the dump, not saying there would be shady characters at the dump, but I think if I were a shady character, I would be at the dump? She does take precautions on that level as well, being her mom, just saying! She really is in her element because she likes the tractors and all that kind of stuff too for being such a girly girl. It’s surprising sometimes.

"She just learns how to do it and goes." I see where she gets it from, Alice. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. 😀

You can actually see the roof of the railway museum at the bottom of the page. It’s where I used to put my crafts, and that parking lot by the trains is where the farmers market sets up during the summer on Sundays. The Old School, where I volunteered for years, is further up the main road on the right hand side, you can see the White building with black roof with the gable. It’s an arts and crafts building also with Heritage designation. The first little blue house on the left as you head down my road is a combination; local newspaper, meadery outlet with patio, and the Saltwater witches studio, where I sell my masks. That’s the hood…lol.

Of course there’s more to it than that… The medical clinic is in that Strip mall on the left, but they’re moving it into a new building that’s being built across from the hospital, also out of the picture… (below the railway station) This however, is the village “centre”… The Uprooted market where I sell my jewellery is just a bit further down the road from the Old School… you can just see the building in the distance. Everything is within walking distance, (technically) from my place if I feel like hoofing it. OK, that’s all folks… The grand tour of Musquodoboit Harbour which is the body of water you can see in the distance, that Musquodoboit river flows into.

😅 Grand Master! I like your sense of humor, Alice! And I appreciate your suggestion for just one swivel. I've gone back and forth on that idea. I hope, though, that I can find swivels that take up less space than my black chairs. Not sure if I mentioned that I've been looking for my screenshot of a very comfy-looking "campaign chair." Flo had suggested this years ago. I thought maybe one or two would be nice to move into the room when we're all together...if they are quite portable. I'm not sure if the screenshot I took was one Flo posted or one I found. I might find it yet!

Lia, thank you for seeing the positives! One decision at a time, sort of. I'm waiting to see the fabrics for the sofa and chairs. Shopping for chairs. I haven't decided which shopping will be next on the list...could be the shades or the area rug or the media cabinet.

I wasn't down about it...just tired when I wake, tired at the end of the day, and tired all weekend! BG keeps me energized from 8-5!

Last Friday, after spilling on her clothes during snack time, I showed her a clean outfit, hoping she would come to me. Instead, she ran down the hall and came back with a dress her mama had put in a donation box! Usually one might put a little T-shirt on before putting on a denim Osh Gosh dress with [cold] overall buckles. Nope. Then she found new red ballet shoes twice her size. Good thing they had straps!

By the time her mama got home, ten minutes later, she was wearing one shoe and really quite happy about it! That was the first time I'd seen her express any interest at all in what she wears. She surprises me every day!

Oh my, on the red shoes… I remember when I was about five I wanted red shoes with straps. I got them and they hurt my feet and my mother took them away. I always regretted complaining about them…I wished I had kept my mouth shut. BG sounds adorable. Little girls are quite different than little boys.

Dsimber you could get Aria a pair of little ballerina slippers for her for Christmas, in fact, you could hang them on the tree and see if she spots them. Actually, you could get several pair and have them there for her. I can just imagine the delight in her eyes when she finds them! One present I remember my mother getting for me were Castanets. Of course, she probably was wishing she hadn’t, since I pretended to practice quite a bit until the new wore off, of course.

Looking good. A sage lightly printed comforter would be more durable with a renter. I think a runner on side of bed would be practical too. If guest room, I prefer full rug. It also helps with noise pollution!

I decided not to move the existing artwork over the bed.

When I replace the mirror, I want to get something lightweight that won’t injure anyone if it fell off the wall while someone is in bed.

I’m thinking of artwork in a very lightweight frame similar to cardboard or plastic. No glass or heavy wood.

i've been followng along on your journey. Agree with much of what DIS says including the odd looking "Alice in Wonderland chair". Re: His point that art "need not be a factor". One area where it definitely can be is in the mood art can convey, so lets not overlook that possibility. Your gorgeous photo elicits a calming, serene mood to me - maybe something else to you. If that is important to someone, then the juxtaposing a riot of bright colors and/or patterns nearby may create a disconnect. It would for me, because I would want to carry that soothing theme throughout. Maybe not at all for you, but I wonder if you have really decided what feeling you want from your rooms and if the photo's effect would play a role.

I agree with Indigo Rose that the serene mood set by the DR photo would be a great thing to keep in mind for both rooms. I love the quiet luxury of DIS's board - it's gorgeous!

Thank you all. Sorry if my room is boring 😞. Yes the dark furniture is clunky looking. and was not my first choice long story about that but it's going so does not matter now. Nothing in the current room is staying except the TV. As for the amoire if I wanted to get a photo of the entryway then it wound up in the picture but it actually does not appear as it does in the photo. The "rug" will be bigger. I don't want a coffee table for a number of reasons so will work with side tables.

Though I like the idea of a different wall color, I just had the room and hallway repainted due to a bad leak we had about a year ago before we planned to get new furniture so I am not repainting. Considering that, what color LS and chairs would work here. To clarify I will have a plan before I buy re size placement I just don't plan to buy everything at once.

@JAN MOYER this is what you do for a living so all is second nature to you. Some people have a gift for decorating. :) It's obviously not me. I don't have the ability to "see" things in a room or maybe how they should go together. One of the reasons I am on this site. I bought my current furniture set tables etc only to feel it was too chunky for the room after the fact. So going slow this time. I agree two 84 inch sofas can look completely different in the same space. I may like something but it might not be right for the room or for the other pieces in the room. I envy people who can just look at items and see how they can go together where I never would have thought.

So again thank you all for your suggestions. So a start for the loveseat I like the Flexsteel Finley (thank you @katinparadise for pointing me to Flexsteel) or something similar as I like a flat back. just need to figure out best colors now for the room then the side chairs and I have a start. Thank you for your patience.

Sorry about the typo I was my tablet having issues. I was trying to say that's nice!

My h would love those colors. He loves orange and all kinds of earth tones. I am not a fan of orange at all. I guess if we did a saddle color on the loveseat the chair could be that light color but the rest of the room colors are not for me. It works though and is beautifulIy put together. It's similar to the room I showed but I guess more rusty color.

The colors are not to my taste though. I do like the color of the sofa and my walls are a creamy off white. I did say re the other room needed a different rug to punch it up which Emily did beautifully.

I have relatively new vertical blinds. I see how color on the windows would help pull things together. Not sure I can add a shade though. Perhaps some kind of valance.

kl23 Not sure what you mean about Emily's mock up giving me a footrest. I don't see one.

I still can't decide on fabric over leather. We have had some issues with our current leather furniture. Yet is I think maybe more durable than fabric? The loveseat will get a lot of use as this is where we hang out. I've a more formal living room where we entertain when guests are over so this room is for us. I don't like to entertain where there is a TV. When we go to see others who do, the TV is on and it's not a visit. People get distracted by the TV. Anyway that's my pet peeve.

Emily TY. I don't know how you did that but it looks so much like my room. I think I would go with a different rug though. I like the barrel chair but it may be too small for my brother and my stepson who would be the ones sitting in it. They are 6ft and large.
