3 things I love in my kitchen: 1. incorporating the paper towel holder into a drawer front next to the sink with saran, foil etc in back of drawer. No need to open anything to access paper towels (as in the photo for island storage tips except right next to sink- my pull out garbage and recycling are under the paper towels). 2 . Lower cabinet bases double as storage for larger items suc as serving platters, cookie sheet pans (much easier that upright storage). Push to open using foot. 3. Pull out cabinet under sink. Soooo much easier to find something and a great place to store dog food as well!

Yes to (wide) drawers only on lowers - such a great way to keep pots/pans, plasticware, utensils, etc. Not a fan of appliance garages as I think it eats up too much valuable counter space and personally I think they look weird. This may not be storage exactly, but we made our counters deeper on each side of our galley kitchen - added 4" on one side about 5" on the other (or something like that). Makes a huge difference on what you can fit on the counter when prepping, and allowed us to use a few inches deeper upper cabinets. Every real house keeps items on the counter and with deeper counters, the few things we keep out look a lot less cluttered due to the extra space which nobody notices. Unless you point it out, nobody knows the counters are deeper. I didn't believe what a difference deeper upper cabinets could make but it's a big difference! Our charging device drawer looks like the one in the photo but because of the cost to put the charging unit in, we only did one drawer. It is fully crammed with 2 USB hubs charging LED flashlights, cabinet lights, power banks...everything! That drawer was money well spent.
