Cost effective soffit material?

Cost effective solutions for a soffit on a modern home? Clear grade Vertical Grain T&G Cedar is too pricey at this point. Which is what we wanted to use.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Plywood acx with a clear stain always looks good next to concrete. You can play with the panel size and orientation to make an ordinary material very interesting.

Thanks for the options, I think pine night look a little too rustic? I will look into pricing on the plywood! Any other ideas?

Pine. It won't look any more rustic than cedar.

The CBF looks interesting, but it looks pricey? and the lead times scare me a bit.

yes longer lead time and more pricy upfront but will perform better than wood in the long term, I've seen this material in place for 10 years and it hasn't changed or weathered. Plywood will need to be maintained and even replaced over time... I understand your dilemma, sometimes the budget and schedule limit your options. Plywood is a good compromise that will fit the aesthetic.

the CBF - cement board - is gorgeous. It probably would perform better than pine/cedar/plywood depending on where it's being installed. If it's just underneath a roof area, wood is fine. And and it may look better on a modern home, depending on the look you are going after, so ask your architect or designer. Then think about the long term, not the quick fix. 6 to 8 weeks is nothing for a home.
