keeping mosiac tiles/grout clean in the shower

Hi! We are just about to redo our bathroom and are considering creating a wet room style walk in shower with the floor of the shower having mosaic tiles. I'm concerned they are going to look grubby very quickly....how do you keep your grout/tiles sparkling clean?!! We are a family of 4 so the shower will get a lot of traffic!

    Firstly - mosaic tiles are perfect for wet room floors as they look great but also add extra grip so the shower floor is not slippery - so great choice :)

    Some grouts, like BAL Micromax, contain antimicrobial protection to help prevent growth of black mould.

      Choose a grout that doesn't show discoloration. Dark grey works well with white tiles.
      I had a bathroom in a former house with brown grout & large brown wall tiles and the same tile in a mosaic on the floor- still looked great when we sold 3 years later.

      Hi Helen, we recommend cleaning your grout on a regular basis anyway to prevent black mould / mildew forming. Use half a cup of hydrogen peroxide mixed with one cup of water in a spray bottle, and spray your tiles down regularly. If you're concerned about having such strong chemicals in the house, vinegar works almost just as well!

      All the above comments are very valid: use a good quality grout and a grout sealing product at the point of installation (LTP's spray mentioned by The London Tile Co is good, also check out Lithofin). Add good ventilation, squeegee the walls down after you've showered, and give the grout a 'proper' clean periodically. Ask the company that sells you the tiles & they'll probably have a product to suit -again LTP & Lithofin are well-known brands.
