Furniture dilemma

Recently had our basement living room area redone (floors and paint) and we just can't figure out a good furniture solution/ layout for this space. We've also been considering a sectional sofa? We want this to be a comfortable space but really have no idea how to start doing that.

I too think sectional sofas could be limiting. They need A LOT of space to make them look "comfortable" in a space. You have a medium sizes room. Normally that isn't enough space to get a sectional to "look right". You can work with apartment sized sectionals...that would work, but you will pay an extra fee because they are considered "special" sized items.

I'm wondering if an ottoman would work in place of a coffee table. That will give the space a sense of comfort (and make people feel like they can put their feet up).

How are you going to use this room? TV?

Great job with the floors and paint color but your curtains are too short. Probably not a good idea with baseboard heating anyway.

Yes, great job with the floor and walls! This space has a lot of potential. @DianaLand and @CancorkFloorInc. have good points about the limitations of including a sectional in this space. We love the idea of using apartment-sized inspiration, per @CancorkFloorInc.'s suggestion - this would give you more leeway with working with this smaller space, and there are some really great ideas online, like on Pinterest, for how to decorate this interior. Here's one!

A cozy sofa, characteristic rug, floor lamps for intimate lighting, and a coveted lounge chair would make your new basement living room just right!
