Another Splashback Advice Request

Michelle
il y a 7 ans

Hi all, finally at the finishing touch stage of the kitchen and now need to pick a splashback.

I'm thinking glass rather than tiles, but not sure to add a pop of colour or stay with the grey but worried that would be too clinical.

Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated.

Yes, many of our client for for a glass splashback, therefore we would recommend choosing one as this would work really well with your contemporary kitchen.

You've chosen great colour choices for your door fronts, meaning that many colours would work well to add a 'pop' of colour to your kitchen!

Here is an example of one of our projects that have a similar colour palette to yourselves. The back wall is painted and there is also a glass splashback in the same colour behind the hob. Its bold, but works really well with the cabinetry and makes the space appear brighter and more inviting. A tip is that splashbacks can come in any colour and also can be matched to any paint colour, if you had a specific colour in mind.

Colour choices we would suggest would be greens, blues or yellows. However if you did want to be more subtle a pale blue or green would work well. There wouldn't be anything wrong with sticking with grey, as it would obviously go with your worktop and flooring. By choosing to use a glass splashback this will help bounce light into the space, so if you went for a grey glass splashback, it wouldn't appear dull or 'clinical' at all!

    Hope this helps!

You already have beige and brown colors, so what if back splash would be combination of two? Some inspiration

Gray or white subway tile or glass one will work too

Like yours! Interesting, back splash almost repeats cabinet color. So you also can go similar.

I think teal glass would work really well. Alternatively, wonder about picking up on the metallic trim (is it copper) on your lights for the splashback.

Given the kitchen design, I'd go glass for sure. Personally with the neutral monochrome palette, I'd take the opportunity to inject a bold, vibrant colour - lime, orange or a fuchsia. If that is too bold, then a teal or pastel (dusky heather / grey green / duck egg) will still look stunning.

If you're looking for something a little different, consider some of the products from Decoglaze - their Decokiln product has some stunning textures, or they have some lovely matt finishes.

I like to use larger size tiles for a splashback - less grout to have to clean if splashes are messy.

Hi Michelle, like many other comments so far I think that the neutral palette that you have chosen for your contemporary kitchen space gives you so many options when it comes to the splashback. We specialise in producing glass splashbacks in any colour or design from a single colour - maybe a favourite colour or something to tone with wall art you maybe thinking of hanging in your kitchen to abstract patterns to photographs. We can even create bespoke art work - something totally individual to you. If you would like to see how a particular idea might work we would be happy to super impose the idea or colour on to the image of your kitchen to show you how it would look. This is something we offer as a free service. Please let me know if you would like me to help in this way. We we are also very competitive so rarely loose out on price. Richard

Hi Michelle. As you've got an upstand I'm not sure if you need anything else. I would add colour and texture for accessories for your shelf and then decide if you need anything else. It could be that a deeper colour above the shelf would work to highlight your accessories

Hello Michelle, you have a great kitchen. I think a warm colour splashback will make it cosier. If you are planning a glass splashback go for orange glass or transparent glass will th a print behind it. Metal would look good too, copper, brass sheet or tiles would pick the detail on you light pendants. Or go funky with colourful Mexican hand painted talavera or Moroccan tiles. Good luck! http://tumitiles.co.uk/orlando-105-cm-tile-141-p.asp

Another idea to choose grey or white tiles and use a gold or copper grout to add interest.
