Advice on cladding choice for North elevation of new build...

John Walsh
il y a 6 ans

Hi

I can't decide on the mixture of cladding for the Northern elevation of my build and would love to hear everyone's opinion to help me decide.

The materials I am wrestling with are:

  • Painted render - white to match the main body of the house
  • Painted render - grey to match the window frames
  • Cedar cladding - to match the garden fence
  • Grey stonework - to add a bit of interest

Please let me know which of the 5 combinations (shown in the image below)

you think looks best or if you think of a better alternative I would love to hear it.

Thanks

John

    Hard to decide.
I think I'd go with either 1 or 2. Both of those add some colour and interest.

I vote 1 and 5 because they are cleaner and more simple

I think that stone and white render is a beautiful combination and it should look amazing when softened with plants. I would go for 5.

I'd go for 5, simple and uncluttered.

No 3 for me. Clean and like the grey lines through middle.

#3 or #5. I do not like too much combinations...cedar and stone and something else. If you do cedar cladding...then it is time to go horizontal...not vertical.

I really like the combination of white render and stone. Rather than painting it white, have you considered using K Rend. These are self-coloured renders, with the benefit of never having to re-paint.

I wonder if it is worth echoing the stone on image 5 at first floor level?

I like 4, but with white render. So, I guess that would be option 6 ;-)
