Colour scheme ideas - office with terracotta tile floor

Hi all

So I recently moved house. The previous owners have an extension which is a great size for an office with a desk and a bed settee (it will double as a spare guest room if needed although wont be the main guest room).

It has terracotta floor tiles - something I’ve never had before and have no idea what colour works with them. I quite like them though and we have lots to do on the house, so will be keeping them.

My existing desk/table/bookshelf is black, so I’m thinking to use those although this could be changed.

Otherwise it’s currently just got slightly grotty white walls and ceiling.

I have a loose idea of basing it on some ottoman / old Turkish style but that’s a bit of a whim so might get discarded in favour of more ”standard” minimalist black, white, cream type stuff.

Any ideas?

    Teals and greens go well with terracotta. I have attached an image from Pinterest for reference. Hope this is useful

    Can you post a photo? I love terracotta but it comes in lots of slightly different colours.

    I would stay away from those current terracotta morrocan themed styles. Get a large cream berber style rug and keep the walls neutral. Black goes very well with terracotta, Look for a neutral paint colour in greige. Those bright colours are far too active for a study. As its going to occasionally double up as a guest bedroom you could consider a sludgy green wall colour which would be calming. Great for work and guests.
