Looking for ideas on how to organize the gun storage room.
This is a little too austere for me but a good example of the wine room having a glass front and door.
This is very close to what I picture! Now I’m wondering if we consider a slider for the door so we don’t have to worry about room for a door to swing open either way. That way we could maximize the space inside the wine room and have the bar area outside snugged right next to the glass of the wine room without worrying about a door opening against the bar or any other furniture near there. Make sense?
Another good example of what I picture for wine storage in the central core next to the bar.
Love this simple design with nice hardware and a distinct floor. I expect mine to hold way more bottles, but I picture something like this next to the bar.
Wine room door and whole face of it should be in glass like this. Just a simple door of full glass. I like that it's as tall as the space.
No real attraction to this design, rather I wanted to make sure we get a guest 1/2 bathroom/powder room in the middle core, perhaps near the elevator/front door side.
I like the size of the bar in the back corner. I'd have just one length of it instead of the right angle extension, just long enough to have behind it a counter space for drink prep and a small sink, plus a dish drawer and ice maker under the counter. The wall behind it would have the bottles of spirits and glassware racks and it would be next to the glass wall of the wine room.
I like how the bar is next to the wine room.
I like how it's just a space, like a big closet, lined with racks to make a wine storage space and fronted with all glass so you can see everything inside. Seems to me we should make the wine room the full depth of the "core" structure that divides the family/living area and the bedroom side of the house. We can make it wide enough to get to 1500 bottle capacity. I like the variation of the racks.
Interesting idea of having a simple wine room with glass doors across the entire front side. I think one door with a fixed glass panel on the other side would be better so a tasting table could sit in front of the panel side, right next to the bar outside.
Glass wall in front of the wine racks with just enough depth to walk along the racks. Use this design for the wine room in a U-shaped notch, and the tasting table sits outside the cooled wine area in the space created by the notch.
I don't want guests to crowd me in the kitchen while I'm trying to cook, but if it's just us I like how this would let me plate and serve both at the island.
The seating allows the diners to face each other for conversation like when they would sit at a table.
Sitting area surrounded by glass walls of displayed wine. I picture a narrower and more shallow depth to mine.
I want to move the wine room upstairs. This is a good vision of what I picture. The glass wall wine room is next to the bar in the living area and it can be seen from the family room and the dining area.
I like the dark wood against the light colored floor (travertine throughout the house), the variations of the storage racks, the wood cases stored under the far counter, the barrel on the floor to break up the space, and the nook with the blank wall above the counter holding the large format bottles. I don't like the ceiling or the chandelier. Can lights in the ceiling would be perfect.
I like this workbench with the vise and the tool drawers underneath.
The garage will be a work in progress, but I like the flexibility of a wall like this to organize and reorganize tools and parts. I'd like one wall to have a section of floor to ceiling cabinets, some of them with secure storage for firearm ammunition.
Kathy had all five of these features in my kitchen on Avenida de Palmas!
I like the wall of rifle racks next to the handgun display. In the secure gun storage room I picture one wall with rifle racks and a collector display of handguns, while another wall has racks, shelves, and drawers for the accessories. The ammunition would be stored in locked cabinets in the main garage area outside the gun room.
I like this built-in handgun display for the gun room.
Presumably the tiled area is a pet washing station. I like the idea of it, with hand-held shower head, but I'd like it out on the patio, the patio side that faces the grass area on the west side of the house.
I like the W/D on the drawer stands alongside the long counter with the outdoor view. I like the counter space for folding or projects. I like the big utility sink. I'd like an ironing corner.
I like this crate/dog bed area for the laundry room.
I like this for the office side of my office/gym space. That window would face north, a big shade tree outside would protect it from the summer sun, the driveway up to the front door would be outside and to the right so I'd see anyone coming up the driveway to the front door. I'd like just the back wall directly behind the desk to be the dark wood and built-in shelves. I picture a reading chair or sofa on the right. The door into this room is right from where this pic is taken. The wall on the left would either not exist or be shorter and open into the gym side of the room.
Something like this for my office/gym space. I like the TV high on the wall and the dumbell racks underneath it. I'd like a floor that can take high impact. I don't see a lot of weight racks and machines, but there should be space to add a cardio machine of some kind. I very much like the door to outside; I picture this room in the northwest corner of the house, with the back doors opening onto the patio on the west side that fronts the grass (artificial) area enclosed in the patio wall.
Not sure about the colors, but I like how this bar is backed into the corner, it has a small bar serving area and the shelves for the liquor bottles. I'd add racks for wine glasses, a cabinet with a glass door for other glassware, an FP dish drawer, and an ice maker. I'd position it in a corner of the Great Room, in a corner between the dining area and the entertainment area.
I like the closet definitely separate from the bathroom. I like good lighting and space for dressing. If I have drawers in the closet I wouldn't need a dresser in the bedroom area. I like how all the shoes are visible and use the whole height of the wall. I like the two level hanging rods. I'd like a tie and belt rack that displays all of them. I'd like a hidden/secure area for storing a firearm.
Separate vanities in the Master bath for sure, or at least widely separated. I'd like a BIG and deep sink for at least one side (mine). I like good lighting but not so much that the room gets hot from all the bulbs. How important is a bathtub? I never take baths and it would take up space.
Not sure about the colors, but I'd like a master bathroom with the walk-in shower, no glass door and no curtain, the water handles near the entrance, a strong exhaust fan to keep the rest of the bathroom from steaming, and either a skylight or high windows for natural light. Having the windows be operable so I could open them and get an "outdoor shower" feel would be nice as well.
On this side I like the long counter for food prep and service right across to the counter/bar seating on the other side. I don't want a refrigerator outside; rather I'd like an under counter ice maker and a "tank" or cooler built into the counter top which get filled with ice and all the drinks so the guests can see all the choices. When not in use the tank is covered and the ice maker is off. For the whole area I like dimmable overhead lighting and insect lights hidden (as much as possible) in the ceiling.
I like all the outdoor kitchen under the patio. I like this layout where the two counters create the kitchen/food prep space. I like both a gas grill and a Green Egg charcoal grill; I'd have very high hoods or quiet exhaust fans over them, with lights over both. I think a small cooktop with two gas burners would work for most outdoor cooking. I don't imagine needing all that drawer storage, but I would like a good sized bulk storage under the counter for charcoal bags. I like the idea of a layout that is easily cleaned by hosing it, as well as bar/counter chairs that easily clean by hosing off with water.
I like the "beverage station" feel of the corner. Having a FP dish drawer, an under counter ice maker, a bar fridge, the Miele coffee machine, and the majority of the glassware and coffee cups all in one area would keep that traffic away from food prep areas.
I like the window behind the cooktop instead of a backsplash. I picture the kitchen taking advantage of as many views of the patio and city lights as possible>
I like the long counter in front of the windows, the big island with sitting on the side away from the counter, and the adjacent dining area, all of it surrounded by the windows. I don't like the pendants hanging over the island. I picture the view from the kitchen and dining to include the pool area and city view, so I don't want anything hanging from the ceiling to interrupt the view as you look out the windows.
I picture the pantry organized like this. Bright light, open shelves, some open counter space, drawers for linens.
Does this shelf system use the dead space to the left/into the corner under the countertop?
I like the display of all the spices in the drawers.
I like the counter prep space on the square island, and the big solid wall of backsplash behind the cooktop.
Could the dining table area be like this? To position it for the nighttime city lights view?
Dark built-in shelves. I picture them behind my desk in the office.
Butcher block in the counter, long windows above the counter.
