Like the simple bevel or bead sticking with the flat panel. Do not want a 90 degree corner between the sticking and the panel.
We also like the four panel door

If we need to stay with the horizontal siding I think something like this would be an improvement.
This example shows the Board and Batten with stone and wood. It all seems to flow together. Who wouldn't want this house.

This house has unique siding, never seen this type in the Bay Area. Not sure if it is too modern for our application.
