Yes it is white oak, with a natural stain (not clear).

FLOOR: Gesso is a white or grey paint mixture consisting of a combination of a binder, chalk, gypsum, and pigment and can be found in an art supply store. My flooring company simply thinned it out with water and mopped it onto the floor. Once it was dry, they buffed or sanded any areas that were too think and then applied 3 coats of commercial grade Bona sealer. Your floor man may need to play with it on samples to come up with a a good formula for you.

Gesso floors the floors are heart of pine and we did a custom gesso finish. The gesso was thinned out with water, mopped on and left to dry. If it was thick in any area, it was buffed down and then the floor was sealed with an industrial sealer from Bona Kemi. It is a grey wash of color and not a pickled finish. Pickled has a shiny pink color to it.
