Charging Drawers: Placing a charging station inside a drawer works well because the most common devices that need to be charged (tablets, phones, laptops) are typically flat. Laying them inside a drawer means you don’t have to worry about them falling off a stand or getting knocked to the floor, which often results in a cracked screen.
Provide task lighting. The primary purpose of undercabinet lighting is to illuminate the countertop, which in turn makes food preparation easier on the eyes. Always install the task light toward the front of the cabinet, not toward the back. If the light is stationed closer to the back wall, it primarily highlights the backsplash tile and not the counter, defeating the purpose of the light.
Granite vs Quartz - Pro/granite: It’s available in wide slabs. Though granite comes in all shapes and sizes, it’s common to find slabs more than 70 inches wide. For comparison, quartz slabs are seldom larger than 65 inches wide and are most often about 56. Wide slabs are a huge benefit for kitchens with sprawling angles since they usually mean fewer seams. Some kitchens may need only one slab, which can cut costs.

Two-layer drawers ... Deep drawers aren’t always used to their full capacity — a slide-across top layer for cutlery and smaller cooking utensils — makes sure no inch goes unused.
Having the frig on the “left” side of the kitchen will allow us to build it in like this … which will give us more options in refrigerator size.
This kitchen utilizes a very effective way to incorporate a deep refrigerator: The cabinet around the refrigerator is built out for a very custom look. From the corner to the left of the refrigerator, the cabinets are typical sizes: 12 inches deep on top; 24 inches deep on the bottom. Next comes the upper cabinets and the appliance garage unit, probably 15 to 18 inches deep. The deepest cabinet is around the refrigerator, with display cabinets above & to the side.
Here a deeper cabinet accommodates the greater depth of a freestanding unit.
Counter-Depth Refrigerators What it is: Counter depth means the body of the unit is as deep as the countertop — but the doors extend past that due to the hinges. Counter-depth units are typically 32 to 36 inches wide, 24 to 26 inches deep (not including the door) and 68 to 71 inches tall. If you're looking for a true built-in, a counter-depth refrigerator won't cut it, but the price tag might: It's often thousands of dollars less than a true built-in refrigerator.
